87.6 grams, 2.5 x 2 inches. Ducks molt over the winter and lay fewer eggs. Not enough to make it to my closest farmers market, but they're back now.

This was the largest in the dozen large eggs, which go for $15. It's only $12 for the smaller duck eggs. Anyway, pretty tasty. Give them a try if you can get them.

How many of these avocado varieties have you tried? 95% grown are Hass. Here are 8 more types, which ripen throughout the year.      (californiaavocado.com)

I've had a 25' Zutano that produced a couple bushels each year. All of those are worth trying if you get the chance. Probably not many non-Hass avocados make it out of California though.

I've got a jar full of bacon fat that I'm using for pemmican. Not sure when I'll be able to make it, but pemmican food storage is going to be much easier than "My Patriot Supply" in the event of a grid down situation.

Whole Foods, along with plenty of others, is guilty of greenwashing. In his opinion, Amazon will eventually turn Whole Foods into Walmart... but I'm sure most of us see that coming even if we never did explicitly put it into words.

For those who don't know, White Oak Pastures does regenerative agriculture and they've de-industrialized the farming process. It's not about how many pounds of meat they can pump out to the supermarket, it's about the quality of the food they sell to their customers. It's the difference between "cage free" and pasture raised.

I don't know that I've ever specifically shopped for White Oak Pastures, but I can certainly tell you that US Wellness Meats has an incredibly delicious selection. Their bacon is especially outstanding.

People ask me why I did it.

I told them that I told myself to do something different that I hadn't done in a very long time, so it was either this or get my dick sucked by a midget

I make it into a tea, and it's amazing. Clears my sinuses, gives me energy, instantly eliminates any stomach discomfort and calms/soothes the stomach. Why isn't ginger talked about more? It's like a miracle drug.

I stuck two frozen Habeneros in it. You'd figure the freezing would tone it down. Nope!

Keto Stew     (files.catbox.moe)

https://files.catbox.moe/snc13g.jpg

In preparation of an upcoming 5-7 day fast I have switched to a keto diet and bought a bunch of asparagus, cauliflower, and mushrooms.

I dumped them along with meat and bay leaves and galangal into my 22 hour bone broth, which had turned to jello in the fridge, and diluted it with water.

And 1.5 hours of pressure cooking I have stew.

It is not the best stew. The asparagus and cauliflower are too soft. The mushrooms and meat are perfect. It could use some acidity. But I don't care. It took me five minutes to make and it is very cheap and is loaded with power. It is also moderately delicious.

After I have concluded with what is in my fridge I will begin the fast. It will be my 5th significant fast. I have done four 5 day fasts and one seven day fast. My intent is to drop from around 190lb to around 176lb during that period. I will also be testing a theory which I have read, which claims that fat groups can be targeted with group specific exercises followed by cardio, with the logic that the increased blood flow will prioritize those areas.

SS being Schwarze Sonne rather than Schutzstaffel.

Some years ago I posted to /v/Cooking how I started to use the stringy ends of my asparagus harvest for soup stock. It's that time of year again, and I'm fortunate to be harvesting pounds.

I tried to using black decorating gel in some heavy cream, but it was quickly apparent it was going to take way too much coloring. Then I tried just squeezing the gel into the soup, but it just sank. So apologies, I used plain heavy cream and it's a white sun instead of black sun, and I'm a bad artist.

Kept it simple, asparagus stock, more fresh spears to thicken, nutmeg from a 20+ year old shaker, lemon juice, salt, pepper, cooked then used an immersion blender. Tasted damn good.
