I stuck two frozen Habeneros in it. You'd figure the freezing would tone it down. Nope!

Yeah, the freezing would if anything help break down the tissue slightly, releasing the heat quicker. Most homemade salsa is better after at least a day if not a day and a half for the flavors to blend and for the peppers to release their heat. You just made that go faster.

Dead on. Freezing vegetables can definitely break down the cell wall. I use that method when I prepare mescaline tea from San Pedro cactus. Freeze it, thaw it, freeze it again, thaw it again, into the blender with water, simmer for four hours, strain. Works great.

Is this some mexican aztec shit you drink?

[ - ] PeckerwoodPerry 1 point 1.1 yearsApr 8, 2023 10:42:04 ago (+1/-0)

Kind of. There was an Aztec cult devoted to it. They used a Jaguar as their literal spirit animal. Growing and caring for the cacti is a labor of love for me. Takes a year or two for each cactus to get big enough for a dose. I don't know how familiar you are with psychedelics, but mescaline is in my opinion the gold standard. All the best things about LSD and psilocybin, with almost none of the draw backs. Best part is you can buy this cactus at Lowes.

Gotta dry or cook them to tone down the heat.

Hah! In my experience, refrigeration makes the peppers hotter for some reason.

I like to add a little juice from Mezzeta Hot peppers in my pico.

Salsa is actually a generic term for many different mexican sauces. What most people think of as "salsa" is actually cooked. Pico is a fresh salsa. Some people call it Salsa fresco.

Tasty looking, but for me it hits that uncanny valley that exists between a salsa and a salad

Fuck no. And fuck yes please!

I've tried making homemade salsa spicy with jalapenos, only to have mild salsa that tasted like jalapenos. Tried a habanero next and discovered one large ass bowl (several pounds of salsa) requires one small habanero. It was delicious as fuck.

Roasting lowers heat.

As a Texan I can tell you just from looking at it... thats good salsa

[ - ] Ragnar -1 points 1.1 yearsApr 8, 2023 10:32:45 ago (+0/-1)

Only a retard thinks freezing habaneros would bring the heat down. You need to deseed them to reduce the heat. Or better yet, be a normal human and don’t eat them at all.

The seeds has nothing to do with the spiciness. stfu

[ - ] ItsOk2bArian 0 points 1.1 yearsApr 8, 2023 13:33:10 ago (+0/-0)

I can confirm that, I have pepper sprayed myself so many times cooking with fresh habanero.
Accidentally got one of the kids once when I didn't wash my hands thoroughly after making a spicy burrito. Picked up a sleeping child from the couch and put them to bed. 10 minutes later the kid woke up screaming. You could see clear red imprints of where my hands had touched their skin

Actually the seeds do make it hotter.

I am from NM, I know
