I have wood countertops that came from a former BBQ joint. Its all coated in what I believe is danish oil or another "food safe" oil to treat the wood.

My goal is to clean it, stain it black, then add likely around five coats of poly, since it will be in a commercial setting.

Should mineral spirits be the first step, removing whatever buildup is on the wood, or just go ahead and sand?

Am I wasting my time if I'm planning to use an oil-based stain, as in: just clean, dry, then stain?

Useful advice is appreciated.

I never had prior experience with the organization, part of their introduction caught my attention:

I found a bit of their history online and turns out the Optimists chose not to merge with Lions's Club, which was founded by a Freemason.

Am I missing something or is this organization actually good?

Had to make a trip to Walmart after 10am. Seems Walmart employs a third party vendor to van niggers in on Ford Transits to count inventory.

At the end of each aisle is a bonafide blue vest Walmart employee watching all the niggers beep barcodes. Some aisles had at least 10...about 50 total counting over by the pharmacy / health goods.

I could hear the racket halfway across the store. If they're beeping all day every day, no wonder they don't notice smoke detectors.

Choosing to run across I-25 is not a wise choice.
