Windows 7 was the last desktop version I ever had to support and run at work. After that I was mostly running CentOS for desktop at work and Mint at home, supporting Windows Server editions. There was a Windows Server 8, and we avoided that as much as possible as well. By the time I retired in 2020, we had migrated almost exclusively to CentOS, with a few Red Hat servers where support was critical. I am completely lost on the latest versions of Windoze, and don't feel the least bit left out.
Well lemme see... there are cypress trees with Spanish moss, the bridge is long enough that it requires steel cable suspension elements, and there's a wide expanse of black water underneath the bridge. There's likely no shore to swim to nearby, the water looks still but isn't, and there are reptiles in it, some larger than you, looking for an easy meal. But, we get a lot of tourists, so we have to put up signs.
My sister tried AA, didn't care for the heavy Christian side of it, then tried NA instead. Not only did that work for her, but she's gone on to counsel many others with all sorts of addictions. It has become her life's work, helping others helps her, and I'm happy for that.
I quit by spending an all nighter deep diving my medical lab reports from my previous stay in the hospital. I looked up every word I didn't understand, chased many rabbits down side holes trying to grasp what was wrong with me. By the time the sun came up, it was clear that I had been systematically poisoning myself for decades, and I quit right then, full stop. I haven't touched a drop since that night, and would probably get nauseated if I did. My mind recovered faster than anything. Even with all the bullshit going on in the world right now, I'm not angry all the time like I used to be. My body is coming along a bit slower, I damaged it pretty good, but it's getting there. There's no way I can ever go back.
My very first Zappa album was *Zappa In New York* around 1978, given to me by a cousin that didn't like it. I did, very much. So I went to our small town tiny record shop and the only other Zappa they had in stock was *Bongo Fury*. If you've never heard it, you really should. *Joe's Garage* is all about my music career, hits me pretty close to home. But they're all great. FZ has been a guiding force in my life ever since.
I think they beat the hell out of a trailer park. I've always thought that, insulated and finished out correctly and with a little thought, shipping containers had a lot going for them used as sturdy, affordable living space.
I've been doing desktop tech support for over three decades now. I've read hundreds of help desk tickets. This is far from the strangest one, but...something here isn't adding up. The first thing that came to my mind was terminal services, and someone is screwing with you. However, if I understand correctly, you have a plain old usb mouse, and you're holding the plug in your hand and random keystrokes are happening? Try turning the keyboard upside down and shaking the crumbs out.
In 1980 I spent most of the year touring with one of the counterfeit Steppenwolf bands that were bleeding the name dry at the time. I was 19, fresh out of high school and playing in a popular local band. Long story short, I got made an offer I couldn't refuse and joined up. It was a wild time and I got to travel much of the country and play some decent size venues, but the whole thing ended badly and on the run from John Kay's lawyers. As it should have. I was lucky to leave the last gig alive and uninjured, but my bass got held hostage for a while. I've been playing in local bands and combos off and on ever since, but never again had the desire to go on the road. It's a hard life.

Seems a windoze fanboy is downvoting. Can't blame 'em, I'd stay pissed too.

I've noticed this. Some of them seem confused when you reflect their behavior back at them.

We completely ignored Vista and pretended it didn't exist. Nobody I know would run it.

Saban and Belichick, not a chance, don't know anything about the other guy. Besides, DJT just announced he's picked his VP. I think it's Saban.
