German ace Hans Ulrich Rudel helped develop the A10. There's a great book about him called Stuka Pilot. Great man and great read!!!

Good guys

"During Rudel's burial ceremony, two Bundeswehr F-4 Phantoms appeared to make a low altitude flypast over his grave. Dornhausen was situated in the middle of a flightpath regularly flown by military aircraft, and Bundeswehr officers denied deliberately flying aircraft over the funeral."

Adding that book to the list. Thanks for the recommendation.

This picture looks like it's from a video game to me.

<Pilot thinks> I'm never parking here again!

Looks like it still made it home? Pretty badass. They sure don't make em like they used to.

Well that picture is from a flight sim.

Flight sim or not, it's designed to be that survivable. It only needs one engine to make it home. The cockpit sits in a steel "bathtub".

I've spent a good bit of time around these planes and the men that fly them. Volunteered at our local airshow 10 plus years. Small runway, so this was the only jet on the static line.

They are only worth a shit vs troops with small arms. Anything else would blow it out of the sky, like a hind or stinger.

Oops. Hard to tell on mobile. Carry on.

That aircraft looks like swiss cheese. Unbelievable.

Why are all the bullet holes on the topside of an aircraft designed to target ground targets?
All of those look like projectile entrance damage…

Was the pilot flying upside down/inverted?

It’s designed to withstand extreme abuse and combat damages to the underneath of the cockpit and main flight systems- with multiple redundancies from ground fire- but not magic machine gun fire on the topside

These badasses swoop in and attack at very low levels and linger over targets- with other tactical offensive air/ground intelligence and support.

Although I bet the warthog would survive that damage and be operational to fly home- I think this is a wad of shit- unless a plane fag tells me different.

It's a video game

Should have built the whole thing out of the canopy material.

So do you play DCS World, or just found the pic somewhere?

My sister was in the USAF in South Carolina and became a crew chief for these jets. Shipped out to RAF Mildenhall in the UK. Got to see the SR71's we had there when they were hush-hush. She loved Britain.
