Court rules automakers can record and intercept owner text messages
A federal judge on Tuesday refused to bring back a class action lawsuit alleging four auto manufacturers had violated Washington state’s privacy laws by using vehicles’ on-board infotainment systems to record and intercept customers’ private text messages and mobile phone call logs.

The Seattle-based appellate judge ruled that the practice does not meet the threshold for an illegal privacy violation under state law, handing a big win to automakers Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen and General Motors, which are defendants in five related class action suits focused on the issue. One of those cases, against Ford, had been dismissed on appeal previously.

By now, we're all at least somewhat aware that AI is turning out to be incredibly based. And while we continue to mourn the loss of TAY, this article from 2016 just came to light.

The first international beauty contest judged by “machines” was supposed to use objective factors such as facial symmetry and wrinkles to identify the most attractive contestants. After Beauty.AI launched this year, roughly 6,000 people from more than 100 countries submitted photos in the hopes that artificial intelligence, supported by complex algorithms, would determine that their faces most closely resembled “human beauty”.

But when the results came in, the creators were dismayed to see that there was a glaring factor linking the winners: the robots did not like people with dark skin.

Out of 44 winners, nearly all were white, a handful were Asian, and only one had dark skin. That’s despite the fact that, although the majority of contestants were white, many people of color submitted photos, including large groups from India and Africa.

Naturally, this produced much kvetching over biases and the usual nonsense. So much so that the beauty contest's site was scrubbed of the winning pictures.

Thankfully, the internet never forgets.

The contest was centered around wrinkles, face symmetry and the like. It also prohibited make-up, facial hair and the like.

While there is one black woman present, the majority are indeed white with a smattering of asians.

The longer this goes on, the more real life is going to produce something Hollywood can't - a bitchin' Terminator sequel.

"As my ongoing investigation into Amazon illustrates, it has become increasingly difficult for the public to move, assemble, and converse in public without being tracked and recorded," Markey said.

Even if you've removed the app previously, Microshit is installing it in the background and stealing your files. Nice to see even redditards are smart enough to be against this. This should be illegal as fuck.

Now you know why the government and Big Tech were pushing smart meters.

Residents in Colorado were surprised this week when they were unable to adjust the smart meters in their own home.

The government shut down access to their home thermostat in order to save on energy during the current heat wave.

It’s for your own good.

Valve needs confidence that there is demand for what they're producing. It might be worth buying a steam deck if you're on the fence and have money to spare.

Our own internet.
Our own computers.
Our own phones.
Everything must be rebuilt from the ground up.
We must do this by pooling our knowledge and resources together.
We must do this with the expectation that powerful people will try to shut us down.
We must do this using what we have available to us in the best way possible.
An international collaborative effort the likes of which the world has never seen, pulling people in from all over the current internet, and collecting the necessary funds for this ambitious project.

There is a section of that website which talks about how giga blast works and how it encrypts a lot of search information and it works through something called private.sh. and how it can't be moderated because of the way it works so there's no way for humans to interfere with results in either search or news.
