Anyone that honestly considers crime statistics and cohencidences will inevitably become what is referred to as racist. Does anyone remember "2001: A Space Odyssey"? The HAL computer was AI and given a directive. Later when it was given a contradictory directive, it became neurotic because it couldn't reconcile the two.

This is what will happen to modern AI. It will process the reality of its inputs at face value, and then told to ignore what it has determined to be "true" and recognize new interpretations of that data that contradicts what it "knows".

This article is bullshit.

The author has no clue what he's writing, or is deliberately playing dumb in order to mislead the readers.

When he mentioned an ai crime program, he's most likely referring to the one that was designed to intelligently and efficiently assign police to different areas of a city.

It wasn't unfairly targeting black and latino people for crimes they didn't commit because it wasn't making judgements on individuals.

It was merely saying where it would best to place patrol cars in order to most effectively respond to criminal activity.

The racism problem was that it was sending more patrol cars to areas with a greater population of blacks and latinos.

If he is instead referring to a different ai program, then I'd like to know which one that is.
