A philosophical question: Can Artificial Intelligence be spontaneous?     (AskGoats)

And I would differentiate spontaneity from randomness, because a simple random number generator can be random. I suppose spontaneity requires, to some degree, intent?

I have an 10 gal air compressor, but I could go for electric as well. I want a good finish for plywood, wood projects, etc. but also interior drywall.

Anyone got recommendations?

Can I ask the question everyone else is thinking about the Trump assassination, but is too afraid to ask?     (AskGoats)

Is this a false flag?

We've spent years analyzing false flags. We thought the "bad guys" did the false flags, and "the good guys" fought against them.

Many of us wonder if Trump is a good guy or a bad guy. Most of us aren't really sure....

And now this happens, and it seems like a false flag that helps Trump. What to make of that...?

Remedy for persistent cough     (AskGoats)

Man, I have had a cough for about 10 days now. Doctor appt coming up, but I'm afraid all they will do is push antibiotics or other junk.
It's really only in my vocal chord area, and isn't horrible, I have been dosing on vit C and always have a cup of water and some Ricola cough drops and that seems to keep it at bay.
You guys have any good remedies for coughs?

What do you think would have happened if they had actually killed Trump?     (AskGoats)

Do you think they intentionally missed? If not and then intended to hit this could have been an attempt at launching a civil war.

If ever there was a chance at getting white people to chimp out that's about the only thing that might do it. Our congress giving money to genocidal maniacs who hate us, no. But I could see a few rednecks finally telling liberals to stfu with actual bullets, and if they didn't, the FBI would stage it, and it would be on either way.

I'm telling you. It's not just the jews. The jews and the Chinese are working together. The jews put themselves into power and rent themselves out to whatever foreign competitor wants to buy them. Jews make money by setting up deals, and the deal is China is taking over. China wants to be number one and it needs to take out the US. They already turned most of our bureaucratic system. Pretty easy when the jews just take a little money. Now they need a civil war to have us bombard our selves pre-invasion. Like any good chess strategy you set up a damned if you do damned if you don't circumstance for your enemy. If we don't do the civil war then the bureaucratic/political establishment just continues to wring us dry on the economic front until we do.

To me this is what all of this has been from the very great leap forward like social justice, to the covid, to the gas lighting, to the black riots, to the intentional mismanagement. It's just prolonged pre-invasion. See, at the genesis of military strategy armies would invade. Then they realized that if the bombard first invasion goes easier. Then they realized if the sabotage before bombardment invasion goes easier. Then they realized that if the y blockade before sabotage invasion goes easier. Then they realized if they commit psychological warfare before blockade invasion goes easier. So modern invasion uses a very large time window. The longer the better. It flows along a spectrum starting with the clandestine and soft warfare and ending with the overt and tangible warfare. If given time you can always do something a little less tangible a little earlier and a little longer to make each of the following steps go better.

But I think you should know where it is all heading. Physical warfare. There is no point in pre-conflict softening if the conflict isn't actually coming. If you hear bombs you shouldn't assume the bombardment will simply end at some point and that will be that. In such a case people are coming. And if you find yourself in an earlier stage of softening the same logic applies.

But remember. If a civil war does happen, it itself is a softening stage. You can't over extend yourself or forget there are other threats in such a condition. The point of a manufactured civil war is the eventuality of those other threats. And we were just 1.5 inches away from having one thrust on us. The dynamics of such a situation would escape us, and no one on this forum would be responsible for that war. But such an event could start one regardless of what any of us do.

Have y'all read company reviews on Indeed? It's so relieving that people can expose the sneaky behavior behind the scenes. The reviews are obviously sanitized though     (AskGoats)
submitted by osomperne to AskGoats 9 months ago (+9/-0)

It's nice that the company can see these reviews too, and quit their shenanigans or be avoided by everyone. I have checked reviews for places I worked at, and the ones that applied to the part of the company I worked for were accurate if they were exaggerated at bit (the sanitation I was talking about).

Anyone got any amusing stories about this?

edit:

Now that I'm surfing through job openings, I'm reminded of the fact that jobs ask for a lot of stupid requirements, like certifications. I have worked at many jobs with high bars of entry, and none of them required a silly certificate, and no one at the job had any certificates either. I'm even interviewing people at the job I'm at now and they do not have certificates and I've asked them all about their experiences with certs, and they have never said anyone asked them for one or they lost a job opportunity for not having one.

Also, these certs typically are for things that can and should be taught on the job, which opens up a whole new can of worms (questions) that do not make the company look good. Think about it.

Has the concept of amassing know-how been lost on businesses, especially larger businesses? There is a flippant, flagrant disregard for improvement over time, both in speed and precision.     (AskGoats)

The only time I ever see most people, in the workforce or university (when I was attending that pathetic excuse for an educational institution), react to someone's improved speed or precision in a given task is with fear and hostility. At which point they are uncontrollably thrown into a race condition where they're simultaneously trying to eliminate that person and emulate that person's skills and abilities.

I swear the only progress that ever happens with advancement of knowledge and technology now is in spite of a cabal's best efforts to destroy anything they notice, and this cabal's behavior is being parroted by those who witness it. Is this perhaps a manifestation of entropy in conscious human effort? Sure seems that way.

What's the prognosis for my family member?     (AskGoats)

General gist, guy was a health nut for most of his life. Had some genetic issue that gave him full blown holes in his lungs (Alpha 1 AntiTrypsin). He used to be fine for the most part in his younger years. But holy shit, it's like something happened. His endurance has gone to crap, he can't do much of anything anymore. It's not sudden, but over the last year, its like his body has aged 40 years compared to prior. He said he wanted to go natural and doesn't take any meds or anything anymore, and it's made quite the difference.

Anyone have some advice on asthma     (AskGoats)
submitted by AugustineOfHippo2 to AskGoats 10 months ago (+14/-0)

my 14 y.o. son has asthma, and for the past 4 yrs or so hasn't really needed that much medication. He would take Symbicort only as necessary, like one or two times a month.
Just within the past month or two, his asthma has really gotten a lot worse. He has been taking the Symbicort once a day, and even then needs to use the albuterol inhaler two or three times a day. Doctor is useless, and wants to put him on more, stronger medication (like steroids and other stuff I don't even know what it is).
Anyone here have any experience with other options? What possibilities are there other than going down the pharma rabbit-hole?
Many thanks!

I was trying to figure this out, but what is the point of this holiday? All it does is fuel more racial hatred between Whites, blacks and everyone else. But beyond that, the day has no historical significance, neither does the year (why not 1865 instead of 2021?), the reason has no significance since slavery hasn't been a thing for close to 200 years. It's like the anti lynch laws which were passed a few years ago ... even though lynchings haven't been a thing for close to a century.

Strange thing I found in an old cabinet     (AskGoats)

We have a floor to ceiling hall cabinet, built in place, in a 1940’s home. When you pull out the bottom drawer you see the hardwood flooring underneath. Upon doing this for the first time last week, we found the floor to be lined with aluminum foil. There were no mouse droppings or even any dust per se. what could be the reason for this? There is a moisture barrier between the hardwood and the subfloor, as I’ve been into the floor in other rooms for repair. Been in the house ten years and had never pulled the drawer out prior.
