It takes YEARS to get a new factory up and running in the US. The 'environmental impact studies' alone drag on forever. Meanwhile, your car will sit in the driveway, rusting merrily away, because of a defective camshaft position sensor that is not available.

Starting a few years ago, several Maserati models have been BRICKED because of one ignition control module that is failure-prone. The company that made them (I dont remember the country) went out of business. I personally know a guy that abandoned his after waiting for MONTHS for parts that simply could not be found anywhere on Earth.

There are COUNTLESS examples of today's over-engineered cars being rendered inoperable because parts are not available.
