How many times have we seen MSM setting up fake scenes like this? It's propaganda they are using to demotivate you. (albeit people like this do exist).
I use a peening tool on an old log, it's super easy and anyone can do it with this tool.
I also have both of the anvils (the flat and bent one) to do it the classic way but this is a skill I haven't yet mastered and unfortunately I damaged my blade both times I tried, albeit the results are better (a thinner edge). Wish I practised on some old blades first.
Also the peening tool is much quicker and less frustrating to use.
If anyone has any questions I scythe an acre of paddock out the back of my place twice every year. It's amazing exercise and doesn't hurt your back if you do it properly and if it's the right length snath.
The benefit over a mower is that you can scythe wet grass and it doesn't matter how long it is. Less maintenance and it makes hay that you can use. I use the hay as a mulch to cover all of my garden beds and I fill the compost too.
Also ride on mowers are expensive, noisy, require servicing and a lot of storage space and won't give you mad abs like scything does.
These agendas are just a distraction to keep us bickering over things that don't really matter. Think logically about it, if you criticize ((( them ))) on YouTube then you will be instabanned, but there are thousands of channels criticizing the trans agenda and they are allowed to.

Keep it simple and just distill the water. Purchase a "home distiller" from Amazon and if necessary use a fire in your backyard to boil the water. Purchase or make a rocket stove as well to make this easier / burn less wood.
And if you're worried about the lack of minerals (personally I think this is not an issue) then put a pinch of himalayan salt or squeeze some lemon into the water before drinking it.

If it's soft green grass the scythe will slice through it like in this video and 5" I think would be fine for a good cut.
If it's drying out or older grass (i.e. late season) then it will probably need to be longer.
There's a lot of variables though, like the type of grass you are cutting.
