I haven't been able to spot a pattern, but it only seems to affect comments near the top of the page on posts with more than one screen of comments. Whenever I try to up or downvote any of those comments or their children the page resets and the vote is erased.
This applies to the default talk.lol theme, not voat mode. I'd like to do one for each holiday (don't mark my words). The site will go back to default when the holiday is over.
We've officially been online for over a week. I just want to thank you all for checking out the site. I had no idea what would happen after launch. Things were rough for the first few days, a couple critical issues, but I got them ironed out and things have been pretty smooth for the most part. I know there is a lot of other issues to address, particularly in ux/ui department. I hope to get to them all in the next month or two.
I think this new site has a bright future. One of the major advantages imo is the fact it was written in php. People talk shit about it, but it's easier to deploy, brings hosting costs down, makes it easier to find a host (if need be). It just made sense for this project, and I think it will be a lot more resilient than voat was. But time will tell.
Now for some stats
Since launch 1 week ago
923 accounts have been registered 796 topics have been posted 2813 comments have been posted 6644 votes have been cast 0 users banned 0 requests for information from glow niggers as of 3/5/2021
Thanks for giving the site a chance. I hope we can keep this community together and rebuild what was lost. Best people on the internet imo.
Downvotes allotted has been changed from 2:1 to 1:1 with upvotes
You now must have at least 25 ccp to downvote
You can now only downvote a particular user 20 times in a 24 hour period. 10 reserved for submissions and 10 reserved for comments.
In other news there is a new gore tag. It's not written in the rules yet but gore content should be labelled as such. Examples of gore include excessive blood, limb removal, mutilation.
Edit: I'm monitoring feedback, considering all your concerns. Changes or adjustments may follow.
Minor issue: See post linking to video, click little triangle icon on left to expand video inline, start playing video. Now click triangle icon to collapse video. It keeps playing audio.
This has applied to downvotes, but it makes sense to apply to upvotes as well to prevent upvote brigades. You get 10 upvotes for submissions and 10 for comments per user per 24 hours.
I can understand not liking someone and downvoting them when you see a post. But when you stalk someone's account to downvote every comment they've ever made and will make, that is when I have a problem with it. There will be no rules or guidelines, if I feel you are abusing the downvote button, I will reverse every downvote you've ever made. Plain and simple. If you feel like you have a downvote stalker, PM me. If that turns out to be the case I will fix the problem ASAP. Already reversed the votes of one account, so if you have extra votes this morning that might be why. Also worth mentioning I removed the 10/10 voting limit. I know that seems counter-intuitive, but I received a lot of complaints and tbh I am not a fan of it myself, so we'll try this out instead.
We all know @itsgettingcloser likes to delete comments in his subverse. Personally, I view user created subverses as a private space where the owner can dictate how it's ran. You can block him, and his subverses and not be bothered by it. But there are others who believe sub owners should not have this power, which I understand. Curious what the community thinks about this. Should there be a balance of power? Or should sub owners have full authority? Like I've said recently to someone else, on these types of sites, I view going into /all as the wild west, where you are not guaranteed a safe space, or anything really. The difference is these sites don't default to /all, like this site does, and instead either show you your subscriptions or show you the default subs, which enforces this images of user created subverses being 'separate' from the main site. What are your thoughts on this issue?
Edit: I've decided to leave as is. If you don't like a user or a sub then simply block them. Create your own sub. This way leads to the least intervention on my part. I will probably switch the default view to /front, which display default subs, or your subscriptions. Curate your own content. There is already an option available if you prefer /all.
This was a much needed change. Comment threads can now continue indefinitely. Also you will now get properly notified when someone replies to your comment in threads beyond 6 replies. I know on mobile the space available for each comment gets taken up pretty quickly. This is something I will work on. Please report any bugs or issues you run into with this new system.
