Had a doctor landlord when I was in my late 20's, told him I was a chronic insomniac so he throws me a huge plastic baggie filled with valium, says "try these". I did and low and behold they WORKED. Like a champ. For 25 long years and could NOT sleep without one. Thank God I kicked that habit. I do take a little CBD, that helps (yeah. I know I have issues). Lost many a friend to the booze. One of best buddies croaked back in 21. GRanted he was in and out of the hospital so much back then, you know was was stuck with 1/2 dozen covid vaxx jabs, but he was a COMPLETE drunk. Was like the older brother I never wanted when I was growing up. AT the end he was drinking a 5th of smirnoff blue a day (at least). I lend him my car when his truck shit the bed, was supposed to be for couple of days. A week and 1/2 later I am chasing him down to get it back, he finally pulls in my driveway at 8:30 AM and finishes a pint of smirnoff on my couch. While driving him home he has me stop at the liquor store, gets another one and that is gone by the time we pull into his mothers driveway (dude was in his mid 50's still living at home). When he finally kicked the bucket he was homeless, no one could take him. Burned every bridge that he ever had. Died in my sisters camper in her back yard.

They hit a few bars, get hammered & run out of money by 1:00 AM and wanted food, so they pull over to a pizza joint, dave says "wait here. i'll order a pizza and screw back to the car with it." while he's in there, he pulls a fire extinguisher off the wall and puts it on the floor in front of the counter. When the dude working there puts the pizza down, dave acts like he dropped the money, bends down grabs the fire extinguisher and hoses the guy behind the counter, grabs the pizza and screws. The car is all laughs on the drive back toward rt 2, they get to fresh pond near alewife station and get pulled over by a state cop. The cop sees them trying to stuff a pizza box under the seat but doesn't think anything of it, so lets them go, but he had already run the license of the driver (my buddy Tommy). The next day the local cops in town go to Tommy's place and say the Boston cops want to ask him about a pizza robbery the night before, so he rats out dave, but then tips dave off that the cops are looking for him. They were going to charge him with armed robbery, so he loads up his little GMC pickup with everything he owns and drives to FL, had an uncle in Tarpon Springs who had a camper in his yard, so dave makes that his home, starts doing construction down there. I head down a year later to visit, by this time my mother had sold the place and moved to St. Pete Beach, so I figured i'd visit them both. Me and Dave hit a few bars down there (seem to recall one place called the golden nugget in clearwater, I think). I was 19 then, in 88, always had fake id's from 17 on. We end up at this place called the gallery on blind pass rd in st. pete beach. This chick, 28 year old total smoke show picks me up and takes me back to her place, I think I said I was 22 or some shit, lol. Good times back then, my buddy dave was an awesome wingman. I looked him up a while back via web search, saw a mug shot from an arrest in Holiday FL. Looks absofuckinglutely scary these days, like he lost his marbles.. Here in central-western NH there are actually a few NY'ers (and CT people) that bought or built vacation spots up here. I ain't no bear whisperer. I see at least two or three a year around here, this time of year usually up in a tree eating leaf buds. Wife was staying at her sisters that night so I settled in to watch a movie with the dog. By 10PM I was literally rolling around in pain. Stayed on the couch all night flopping back and forth with no sleep, the dog at my feet like he always is no matter where i sleep. 9:30 the next morning I drive to the ER. After a couple of hours thinking it was gas or constipation or something, er doc finally says, "drink this, we will do a CT scan". Turns out my appendix popped and was leeching crap into my abdominal cavity. While waiting for a surgeon to show up (dude was Mexican, and he was good, saved my ass) was the most excruciating pain I have ever felt. When I cam out of surgery, the doc said "it wasn't pretty in there, but we cleaned it up and we will let antibiotics do the rest". In recovery fr a few days, the nurses were all talking about this new disease in china, saying "we hope it doesn't end up here", talking about covid. I get back home and develop full blown cdiff infection a few days later, which was almost worse than the blown appendix. Filthy hospital, i guess. What do I think triggered the blown appendix? Like a week before that I went in for a colonoscopy, i'm an older guy with family history of cancer, both sides and all types so was trying to be proactive with screening. What a mistake, don't get a colonoscopy if you can avoid it
