Paying for a DRM encumbered, proprietary amusement software, whose design likely involved professional psychologists to maximize your time spent on device, only accessible through a centralized portal from the vendor.
Let's all take a moment to laugh at anyone who actually forks over shekels for one.
After several months, I basically started intentionally entering stores without a surgeon's mask and with no intention to purchase anything. "Freedom of navigation" runs, essentially. 75% of the time, nobody cared.
But there were some sales floor managers that got huffy with me. I "rewarded" businesses that gave me any trouble with anti-mandate stickers for their glass entryway doors. The kind that peel into little strips when you take them off.
In retrospect, I only wish I had started pushing back sooner.
To this day, the people that I see still wearing surgeon's masks are almost always either obese or in the process of procuring junk food or tobacco product. Walking proof that the most easily deceived tend to also be on the lower end of the IQ bell curve.
I don't think that the timing of the last was as intentional as this.
More likely, the perpetrators where trying for decades to get the perception of a pandemic off the ground. At first with SARS, then with Swine flu, later Ebola, Zika and so on.
The one that finally achieved the desired level of panic sufficient to generate a "healthy new market for vaccines" happened to occur with their Nth attempt, "covid".
I recognize that the same thing could have happened a few years earlier, but I think that the ubiquity of mobile phones and people constantly micro-dosing on "news" was instrumental and only possible once a large enough portion of the population was doing so by the very late '10s and early '20s.
I've always considered the "Press for English" meme in the same class of *stranded on a dessert island*, *quicksand emergency* or other Far Side comic-esque scenarios, in that it doesn't feel like a real everyday problem.
It's begun to occur to me that the people who always complain about this probably actually do spend inordinate amounts of time calling for help with basic things. Essentially boomers with computer problems that they cannot solve themselves.
The feds don't even need to be here. Upgoat uses cloudflare. They can just sip coffee with their feet up on the desk in front of their threat metrics admin panel, not having to lift a finger.
>The US has been placed alongside Pakistan, Congo, Italy and Serbia on the first Civicus Monitor Watchlist of 2025.
Only as of 2025?
Civicus hadn't thought to add the US to such a list in **March 2020**? I've never heard of this organization before but I guess they were asleep at the wheel back then.
Or they were gleefully telling their friends & family to "do the right thing", "it's only two more weeks". Fake organization.
>But the architecture could be such that streaming video would be so clunky and choppy that it would be unusable.
It could forego GPU acceleration. A utilitarian device just needs a basic chip where software rendering is adequate. It is not the in the interest of welfare to supply multimedia entertainment.
If the cryptographic key used to encrypt your data was not A) generated locally on hardware that only you own and control and B) held solely by you, then it is not effectively encrypted.
>Data protected by Apple's standard level of encryption is still accessible by the company if a warrant is issued
This part is only possible because Apple users failed condition B described above. Apple "ADP", Microsoft SHITlocker and basically all other big tech "encryption" schemes make both the user and the vendor holder of the keys. Vendor == LEA, big gov, ad tech and other adversaries. Fail.

It's pretty awesome that Facebook psychologically manipulates anybody dumb enough to use it. They should double down and induce total mental anguish.
