"Ad blockers violate YouTube's Terms of Service" - Youtube recently started a new campaign against those dastardly ad blockers.

It looks like you may be using an ad blocker. Video playback is blocked unless YouTube is allowlisted or the ad blocker is disabled.
Ads allow YouTube to be used by billions worldwide.
You can go ad-free with YouTube Premium, and creators can still get paid from your subscription.

------------------------------------------------------------

If you haven't seen it, it's a popup window in the middle of the video that (also returns after refresh and) blocks video play.

Cure: Right click in the top of the popup, then select the "Fuck It" extension. Sometimes there's an additional layer over the page, so just "Fuck It" again. Then play the video as normal.

Use Brave Brower.

It stops ALL of Youtube's bullshit cold, and without even changing settings after you install it.

I quit switching browsers the last time firefox pulled some bullshit around 15 years ago. uMatrix and a couple other extensions have worked well to eliminate ads, and individually block unwanted page elements. I get to tell the Chrome people exactly what I think with no extra steps.

uMatrix really is like having godmode enabled.

It's pretty great. Maybe a bit too 'fiddly' for some, but I like the control it gives you.

"...unless YouTube is allowlisted..."

It's called a WHITElist, you insufferable mincing faggots. And no, I will NOT whitelist your bullshit ads. I will be making damn sure I BLACKlist them (not "DeNyLiSt" or whatever the PC faggot term is). Fuck off.

Whenever someone says a blacklist in a thing we're making shouldn't be called a blacklist, I come straight back with calling it a niggerlist, just for them and attributed to them. If further ridicule is required I call it an african-americanlist, basically positioning a revert to blacklist as a way to make it stop.

It's fun in meetings, when those types are hit with the reality that their little racist virtue signal doesn't work when the hardware integrator can just say nigger around the same table as the person paying the invoice. Part of the effect is only doing so in response to the blacklist thing, makes it subconsciously clear which way the cause and effect occurred, it wouldn't happen if they'd have just shut the fuck up, and the comfort zone decimation is the punishment.

I had the popup come up, simply closed and watched my video. It has not come up again so far. And if i can't easily disable it, i will simply not watch your tube for a while. Nothing that important over there anyway.

They tried something different a few months ago, then stopped. This is a new effort that started a couple days ago.

Like streaming apps "cracking down" on password sharing.

Greg Abbot style.

Figured as much. I'm sure the clever people from ublock origin will workout a workaround quickly.
