This is 2 years before Crosscurrents, but the crazy improvised chromatic group counterpoint shit is already happening here. It feels like you've been roofied for a few seconds. Billy Bauer is such a great guitarist, do I hear the 1st guitar volume swell about 8 seconds in? This is an unreleased alternate take, they don't do it on the version that came out. It's balls of steel pulling that shit off on a fucking ballad.

THIS is why I always get an individual ticket, even going with friends. That's from my seat, nothing between me and the stage. My friends were all way back. This single lady sat next to me, and get this-had never heard ANY McLaughlin before! She was a Herring follower. It was awesome seeing a virgin have her brain melted live in real time.
