Coca‑Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Fuze Tea, Minute Maid, Nalu, Royal Bliss and Tropico are the brands included in the recall, the statement said.

Coca‑Cola Europacific Partners has recalled a number of products in a number of European countries after detecting elevated levels of chlorate in its beverages.

Chlorate is a chemical that can cause kidney failure at high levels.

The batches in question are in cans and refillable glass bottles bearing production codes from 328 GE to 338 GE. Plastic bottles were not affected.

Typical plant appearance. https://img.gvid.tv/i/3xWor1So.jpg

A firecracker of a thin skinned pepper that clocks in around 20,000 to 40,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). For comparison, Jalapeño's are between 2,500 and 8,000 SHU. More cold-hardy than most peppers, the fuzzy stemmed and leaved plant grows to 4 feet, and can live up to 20 years.

Pods grow upright to 2 inches, and go from green to black to red. If you leave the red ones in place, they'll begin to wrinkle as you see in my photo. There's one near the bottom that's still showing some green and black.

This is about half the peppers on one of the plants from seeds that had a slight miscegenation episode, so some of them have plumped out a bit.

Have chopped a bunch of those wrinkles and have them in the skillet with chopped beef, broccoli, and Lion's Mane mushrooms.

🌶 If you got pepper seeds from the Great Seed Exchange on old voat, I had them labeled as 'Asian' back then. So update your plant tags.

Egg prices could jump another 41% this year, USDA says, as Trump’s bird flu plan unveiled     (www.newsnationnow.com)

https://www.newsnationnow.com/business/ap-business/ap-egg-prices-could-jump-another-41-this-year-usda-says-as-trumps-bird-flu-plan-unveiled/

The Agriculture Department predicts the current record prices for eggs could soar more than 40% in 2025, as the Trump administration offered the first new details Wednesday about its plan to battle bird flu and ease the cost of eggs.

With an emphasis on tightening up biosecurity on farms, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the USDA will invest another $1 billion on top of the roughly $2 billion it has already spent battling bird flu since the outbreak began in 2022. Officials had hinted at the plan earlier this month.

It’s not clear how much more farmers can do to keep the virus out.

Is depression really a "mental illness?"     (Health)
submitted by Storefront to Health 1 month ago (+14/-0)

It occurred to me recently that a natural reaction to many current environmental, political, financial factors would be depression. Maybe in some cases even very serious depression. In fact, it would be a bit strange to NOT be depressed under most of these circumstances.

The depression itself would lead many to make changes in their lives. And despite assertions otherwise, I've yet to meet a depressed person who had "no reason" to be.

One reason I think the health care industry promotes this so hard is that depression may be a spiritual illness for some people. Missing the presence of God or even just hope in their lives.

Maybe there's is a version of depression that is a mental illness. But I think most of it is a natural reaction to life. And I think it does a disservice to depressed people to pile on them that they are also wrong and sick for feeling that way. I wonder if many people would be able to recover with the affirmation that their depression is valid.

Whatever Happened to Sunday Gun Day?     (Guns)

Back on the patriots.win website, they used to post photos of guns every Sunday. Then one day it stopped almost entirely.

I like the idea of goats practicing their Constitutional rights. Does this draw some sort of nefarious attention? Did something bad happen? I mean, I can see avoiding getting the serial numbers in the photograph. But they're just harmless firearms.

I'd see it as a net positive that we encourage each other on a weekly basis to better stay stacked and packed. (Yes, I am currently going through another gun phase)

Thoughts and blessings?

Eat jelly or jam? Stop buying that shit.     (Cooking)

Instead buy the following:

At least one cup of fresh fruit of your choice (preferably from a farmers market or by foraging, store bought will work though)
One lemon, cut into two pieces as 1/3 and 2/3
One cup worth of sugar PER CUP of fruit (I use half the sugar because I don’t like it super sweet, a 2:1 ratio)

Wash the fruit in cool water, put it in a sauce pan with the sugar. Turn on the heat to medium, while that’s heating up, mash the fruit into a pulp until it starts to boil.

Squeeze the 2/3 section of the lemon into the pan. Mix the pan contents as it boils for about 10-12 minutes. Once the mixture sticks to your stirring utensil take your finger and run it horizontally across the jelly. The jelly is finished when the jelly doesn’t run down the utensil where you wiped it away.

Can the jelly and let it sit for at least two hours at room temp uncovered. Refrigerate it afterwards, it’ll last for roughly two weeks, maybe longer.

Goddamn I love cars. Cars truly are the pinnacle of civilization. I’d say that the car is the ultimate embodiment of American freedom. Take a look at any American interstate: miles and miles of beautiful, smooth, gray asphalt. Lower your window and inhale the smell of American oil, rust and dust from the road. Hear the roar of artfully crafted American engines, gears and tires. To be able to drive wherever you want, whenever you want, that is true freedom. To be able to drive past the hoods to Wal-Mart and back to your property without getting jumped by niggers, that is true safety. I myself own two cars (a 2006 Ford Mustang and a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, which I just finished paying for), and I soon plan on buying a brand new Chevy Silverado (because the Jeep is getting too tight for my size). I take care of my cars like they’re my babies. I spend thousands of American dollars yearly on gas, oil, antirust, maintenance, driver’s license, license plates, tickets and insurance, and it’s worth every single penny. I take every occasion I can to drive, which is why I don’t mind traffic; in fact, I find being stuck in traffic to be great. I lower my window, turn on the radio, and take in the exhilaration of being among this many motor vehicles. Sometimes I’ll just sleep in one of my cars in the garage, although my wife scolds me when I do. The best memory I have (which I cherish even more than the births of my children) is when I did a road trip in my Mustang across the country back in ‘08. Speaking of my children, I’ve just watched all the Cars movies with them a week ago; that is proper American education, right there. In an ideal world, we would live our entire lives in cars, with houses large enough to have asphalt roads between the rooms, eating exclusively at drive-thrus and working from our car seats. Even better, we would simply all be cars! Frankly, I can’t understand why some people hate cars; to me, it’s just unthinkable!

Dr. Anthony Fauci’s recent comments on menstrual irregularities met with serious rebuttal from gynecologists, who say COVID-19 vaccines should not have been injected into pregnant women without adequate safety testing.
