Kiev’s losses of military personnel have surpassed 8,000 over the past week amid Moscow’s continued offensive in Donbass

Russia since regained some strategic locations, and their current 'pre-offensive' is beginning to roll over the collapsing Ukrainian defense. "Roll over" is a relative term, since they're still slogging it out in trenches and ruins of towns and villages.
The May 9 Victory Day is celebrated in most of the successor states to the Soviet Union. The day is traditionally marked by ceremonial military parades with the most prominent one being traditionally held in Moscow Red Square.
It's generally expected that the full Russian offensive against the invaders will begin shortly after Victory Day.
