I was a journeyman working with an apprentice, who just so happened to be the bosses son, and one morning when he showed up at the toolbox, I said, "Morning," and extended my hand to shake his.

The kid was in his early 20s and met my handshake with a fist. I hesitated for a second, not knowing if I had unwittingly just won a round of 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' or if this kid was seriously going to ignore my handshake in lieu of a 'fist bump' which I thought back then was a stupid way to greet someone.

I relented and fist bumped him back, but I distinctly remember being a bit annoyed by the fact that this apprentice had the nerve to ignore my handshake and make me do a fist bump, which, as I've stated, I considered to be an insulting way to say hello.

Now every faggot on the planet is out 'fist bumping' and the handshake is being turned into a lost art. It seems like it may be a good thing these days though, since there are many people whom I would not want to come in contact with the palm of their hands.
