Once again, it's time for the FNGT!

If you don't know how this works, click this link. That link will take you to another site to give you some additional information and tell you about some of our off-site features. That's also the site where we will host the weekly guitar threads, should Talk.lol go down.

NOTE: That site is by invitation only. If you want an invite, ask a regular participant (such as @Sleazy or myself)

If you already know what's going on, you probably don't need to click any of those links. You can still visit to see if any changes have been made, as that's also where we kept the archives and have a second forum.

By the way, we're down to just two of us. If you want to help, let us know.

I'm mostly a beginner, and was thinking of getting a little more serious about it. just have a fender acoustic, not really into metal, but prefer folk and bluegrass.

This guy goes through a bunch of old tab books and demonstrates how horrid they really are. It's pretty entertaining in hindsight. I bet I still have half a dozen of them in a box somewhere...

I pointed out that their tagline is 'say anything' or whatnot, but they didn't allow a simple link to talk.lol...

Frankly, that's okay. I've been there long enough and if they have to make up lies to ban me then so be it. They claimed that was apologizing for pedophilia (which still wouldn't be against their rules).

As it turns out, you can not say anything!

I am not unhappy with this. In fact, we had more activity in this week's FNGT than we've had in a long time.

So, we're moving here for the FNGT.

Picked up a 1983 T-15. It's a 23½" scale youth guitar. It's set up like a jazzmaster and sounds pretty unique on account of the "Super Ferrite" pickups.

It's pretty slick!

I've got a microfiber towel on order and plan to line the yoga mat foam in that, I think it'll turn out alright! Better than that nasty, dissolved foam from 1983 anyway.

Luigi Attademo on Classical Guitar.

Nicolò Paganini’s complete works for guitar were only published in their entirety in 1989. The Genoese musician was a sensation during his lifetime and is still counted among the greatest violinists of all time, yet he was also an excellent guitarist. At the other end of the compositional spectrum to his works for violin, Paganini’s guitar works have a more intimate feel; not intended for the concert hall, they are often free from the virtuosic display that was typical of solo works of the era. €79 Harley Benton TE20 Guitar.

Ok we are in a buyer's market at this time as the i'net abounds with similar bargain basement guitars, thus in response to this video I decided to check the market price for the Indonesian Samick 12 stringer I purchased 20 yrs ago for $149 AU, which the salesman told me they had acquired as a trade.

https://i.postimg.cc/66P2dH3w/Samick-12-59-88.jpg

Imagine my surprise when I found it retails for under 60 bux .. I needed a new acoustic after the neck bent on the old one rendering it untunable, this instrument caught my eye when I was about one pace inside the music outlet in the middle of the city, I thought it would be about 600 bux, it plays tremendously well and has a great warm tone.

Video - 12 String Samick Acoustic Demo.

It has a smaller body and narrower neck than most 12 stringers I call it the "Pocket Battleship," it is the flagship of my guitar fleet and has become my main "songs" guitar, fingerpicking is ok if you really want to work at it, I removed the octave G string and replaced it with a normal G string which takes the "jangle" that afflicts 12 stringers out, thus only the three bass strings are octaves. Edit.

Eucalyptus Fingerboards     (Guitar)
submitted by Hall_of_Cost to Guitar 2.4 years ago (+1/-1)

I have a Taylor guitar with a eucalyptus fingerboard. I've had it for a few months and I like how fast it is, like maple or ebony. But it isn't really all that smooth when bending strings. I play elixers/Daddarios usually 10s but just got some Daddario Super Light 9s. They were actually hard to find even on their website but they do make them.

Anyway, does anyone else have any info or input on eucalyptus as a fretboard material? I'm hoping the surface will break in and smooth out. I've F-One oiled it, but I only have a couple of hours play time the guitar and was hoping one of you might know something.

It's the Walnut/Spruce AD12e. Sounds and looks amazing. Has perfect intonation, but I wish the board was ebony.
