I've seen it recommended to be sure they see all the evidence in person so they can document it.

Something to learn to do quickly anytime the police are around. OP recommends this because the police can compel you to unlock your phone with your face or fingerprint, but can't with your PIN (since it requires self-incrimination by saying/entering PIN). Apparently to fully exercise your right to remain silent, you have to state that you are invoking your right to an attorney. If you don't they can keep asking questions and interpret however you respond or not as a response, even if you invoke your right to remain silent. The attorney mention apparently shuts them down (legally). So invoke the 4th *and* the 5th.

The thing attorneys remind you of is that anything you say limits the narratives they can use as a defense. Anything at all. You want them to have the fewest limits when helping you. The hospital approach is good to give you some time to calm down and contact an attorney. You might even be injured and not realize it.
