I was taking advantage—even if without malicious intent. I was turning into a cancer and the Uncle moved to excise me before I got out of hand.

Never, ever, EVER take in strays into your home. I went peaceably with a sense of appreciation for what was done for me. Probably 4 out of 5 do not. Your safety and the safety of your family is more important than some Christian value or seeking some karmic reward.
