Stern played a clip of this interview in the news section of his November 5, 2007, show.[97] Imus referred to black sports columnist Bill Rhoden as a "The New York Times quota hire".[98] In the course of a 1998 interview with Mike Wallace on 60 Minutes, Imus told a producer off-camera that McGuirk was hired to perform "nigger jokes".[99] Robin Quivers recounted that he called her a "nigger" to her face when she worked with him at WNBC and also called her a "spearchucker" on the air.[100] Both Howard Stern and Quivers recalled when Imus called a black female co-worker, a secretary named Brenda, a "nigger" during their time at WNBC.[101] Imus repeatedly referred to Arabs as "ragheads".[102] The show's routines sometimes contained derogatory epithets for homosexuals, including "faggot" and various terms describing homosexuality.[103] Imus referred to former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as "disgusting" and a "fat repulsive pig".[104]
