I used to be a cook. Didn’t really enjoy my work, felt like I was just wasting away at a career I didn’t want to be in while other people were doing better things, imo.
So I changed. I started an electrical apprenticeship and people seem happy with me so far as I’ve been doing it for a month. I also part time cook/serve/bartend at a local watering hole. I’m actually enjoying my life right now.
My next steps are to get sober for a year at least, get my license back, and get a house. Hopefully I’ll find a decent woman in that span of time, but idk dudes.
My diabetes in my old age is wrecking a toe on my left foot. In my family, nobody dies with two feet. It's generational and always end with a massive heart attack (done, plus quadruple heart bypass). then a weakened heart unable to pump blood to the feet lets the rot begin. I am there now. I have a toe rotted to the bone.
So I dox myself, that is, I am taking Doxycycline in a probably futile effort to save the foot. Be lucky to only lose a toe. If the MRI comes back saying that the infection is gone deep, I will just go home with no surgery. I have already taken actions against the inevitable. Contacted all the relatives and and will be driving back to New Orleans to have agoing-away party. Everything is in the wifey's name. One the way back home (Florida) we will spend a day at Fort Walton Beach where that quartz crystal sand may freely enter the gaping wound and I intend to leave it there.
Donating my body to science to save on the cost of a friggin' funeral nad burial. And finally, I just want to say a fond farewell to all you wonderul goats. I was on old Voat and Poal back in the day, and it's opened my eyes more than you might believe. Thank for the education and comraderie. I'll be thinking of you when I breathe my last.
They find pleasure in hurting and in the pain of others. They literally can not empathize with the people that they hurt. This is the oldest reference I've seen to the "what if you didn't have breakfast" meme.
I have a suspicion that the low IQ of Aztec-types from south of the border yields a similar empathic deficit.
1. No Debt. You are not paying the majority of your future wealth to usurious bankers.
2. You are able to raise a family on one income. Your wife can stay home and raise kids and in fact is financially rewarded for doing so.
3. There is little crime. It is safe to walk the streets at night so you have ACTUAL freedom.
4. Others around you have similar altruistic beliefs and a common moral incentive to help each other.
5. There are many jobs and you are paid well no matter your social status or education. All work contributions including manual labor are valued.
6. Your infrastructure is expanding rapidly increasing your quality of life and the general beauty of your world. You can get places faster and you have more free time.
7. You have more vacation time each year. You have very nice places to go on your vacations including the world's first dedicated leisure cruise ships and they are very affordable.
