In a May 2022 Form 10-Q filing, Coinbase stated that "because custodially held crypto assets may be considered to be the property of a bankruptcy estate, in the event of a bankruptcy, the crypto assets we hold in custody on behalf of our customers could be subject to bankruptcy proceedings and such customers could be treated as our general unsecured creditors".[124][125][126]

I was trading on coinbase many years ago. Made a trade that would have made me rather wealthy but they shutdown trading due to a glitch on their end. Took years of dealing with them on top of filing a class action lawsuit to even get customer service help. Glad to say I finally did settle with them after 5 years, tripled my original investment, but not enough to make me rich. Fuck coinbase and crypto in general.

I had Coinbase looong ago and then they started asking for my social security so I transfered my assets and never gave it to them. They emailed me about it for weeks and I kept reporting every email as spam to their abuse newsletter hosting abuse department until they stopped.

I was using it to buy bitcoins and sell them to boomers on ebay for 5x the market value. Then the ebay credit card scammers caught on and started buying from me and doing chargebacks. Since there was no tracking# I couldn't get my money back, so I stopped that.
