I am all for hunting.

But I think the kill should be as certain and painless as possible.

These weird creative ways to kill things where the animal pays the price in pain and suffering if you miss are not good.

Nothing to be proud of.

If you want to test your spear skills do it with a target.

How many times did you injure an animal's only to have it suffer in pain until you could track it and kill it before you got this shot...which still was painful for the animal.

Meh you are right and wrong.

Survival skills are best trained in real situations. Targets don't listen or move.

Animals should be dealt with humanely, but there are limits... we don't care about a fish's pain when we hook it's lip and drag it around... traps leave animals in pain and shock/fear for hours/overnight but are still essential methods of hunting game.

The thing about being human is knowing when you are being unnecessarily cruel.

Practical hunting is always a bloody, painful, and messy thing.

Me and my son was in the woods hunting and we split up and I hadn't seen him for a while. I shot a buck and paralyzed it at the hips and it was trying to crawl away and I ran and jumped on its back and slit its throat. I did the same thing on an interstate highway.
I came up on a woman who had hit a deer and it was trying to crawl away with broken legs/hip. I put it out of its misery.
I waited with her until the HP showed up.
That was back when we only had CB radio to get in contact with the law.
The lady was both appalled and in awe. I think she would have accepted a marriage proposal on the spot.

Was present for a kill that went sideways at a nearby ranch. Hog was screaming. Shooter panicked and noped out.

I calmly drew a sidearm and brained it right there and then.

Mrs. Fash told me later she had to wring her panties out after witnessing that.

My dad shot a deer once a thought it was dead. When he straddled it and started to cut it's throat to bleed it out it jumped up and took off through the woods with him on its back. He had to cut it's throat while riding it.

Also, heads-up, it's not a legal means of take in most US states.

My greatest boast is the time I used a ball from a bearing in one of my wife's old dish towels to tag a fox that was going after my chickens.

I'll probably never top that, but I'm ok with that!

I kept the tail for my boy, gave the rest of the pelt to a neighbor who asked for it.

She stewed the meat, gave the entrails to the dogs.

The stew was OK, we have a few recipes now. The foxes don't come close anymore now that we have a pack of dogs between the four families here.

Honestly we just looked some up on google. Found some recipes instantly ok UK sites.

The euros eat fox more often than I thought.

There's a Cajun recipe from the Francois-niggers in "Loosianna" that sound enticing as well.

If/when you get one let me know and I'll be asking how the recipe tasted. I might hunt the bastards from time to time just to try new flavors
