I'm saying [...] (a)-(b)-(a)-(b)-[select]-[start] is the code everyone I knew used which inconsistently worked. Only 75% of the time so you had to reset and try again, probably because the actual code was [...]-(b)-(a)-[start] but allowed some leeway.

Only rich kids had Nintendo Power strategy guides.
