In one of Robert A. Heinlein’s most controversial bestsellers, a recruit of the future goes through the toughest boot camp in the Universe—and into battle with the Terran Mobile Infantry against mankind’s most alarming enemy.
"Starship Troopers" is a military science fiction novel by American writer Robert A. Heinlein, published hardcover in December 1959. The story was first published (in abridged form) as a two-part serial in
"The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction" as
"Starship Soldier".
The first-person narrative is about a young soldier named Juan "Johnnie" Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry, a futuristic military service branch equipped with powered armor. Rico's military career progresses from recruit to non-commissioned officer and finally to officer against the backdrop of an interstellar war between mankind and an arachnoid species known as "the Bugs". Rico and the other characters discuss moral and philosophical aspects of suffrage, civic virtue, juvenile delinquency, corporal punishment, capital punishment, and war.
"Starship Troopers" won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1960.

It's a short book, so I do recommend picking it up some time. I've an old copy of it that I kept after a book purge.

Just finished reading Bolshevism from Moses to Lenin by Hitler's mentor Dietrich Eckart. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Eckart and Hitler came to essentially the same conclusions about Joseph and Moses that I'd already come to before reading it.

From what I understand, that series is more true to the books than the movie. I haven't had the chance to read the book or watch the series.
