In dissident circles more emphasis should be placed into the study of secret US and foreign government operations dealing with undisclosed highly advanced technology in fields like AI and behavior modification in terms of trying to determine how much human and political behavior is and has been influenced by such programs. The US government is known to maintain an extensive black budget for example. I've no reason to assume it isn't more extensive than they admit to.

On a macro level the government might try to take over the internet secretly with bots in order to control thought. But a lot of this is going to be dealing with satellite technology, advanced weaponry, manipulating the mind through secret technology - maybe even remotely, etc.
