Anyone could be a shill as far as you know. A good rule of thumb though is if a poster is irrational. We have people showing up on my threads with dreck like 'no one likes you' (obviously intended to try and demoralize me) and endlessly harping on porn as if that's all I post.

In the end you should simply never let anyone talk you into doing something illegal. Certainly not in a group. But when you see a guy like me getting brigaded for years it's kinda hard to argue that is shill behavior - on my part. Unless you think I WANT my visibility suppressed.

I've been getting attacked by bots for years on the vote manipulation front. If people can't see what's going on I question their sincerity.

Looking to the future some kind of platform model will need to be used or constructed that keeps out trolls and the irrational or idiotic. Shills can infiltrate in others ways - such as in being polite - but this Reddit upvote-downvote model is clearly defective. What all this probably means is that serious people will have to congregate in groups that limit access (rather than allow 'free speech') and perhaps even use Chinese or Russian internet space which work to deny US government AI programs access to disrupt social media sites.

In the long run, certainly, I'm unlikely to be contained in some cul-de-sac. That is definitely where glowies want me. I will also be thinking. That is something they don't really want any of us doing.
