"I actually work in a bakery factory, alot of manufacturing plants are going to a 24 day shelf life and yes this is a recent change.

Yea they are adding different enzymes and mold inhibitors to push for longer shelf lifes. This is a corporate level decision nationwide. I'm not going to disclose what company this is but it's one of the top 2 in the country."

I've had many experiences the last bunch of years with "super-milk" that seems to go months beyond the expiration date unchanged in quality. Anyone who's ever had/stored farm-fresh milk knows something funny is going on here. The whole ingredient list in US food should just have a huge question mark.

FYI, carmine, made from ground bugs, is used as an ingredient in certain fruit juices to add color!

My input on store milk is that culture used to make tvorog (cottage cheese) rejects most store milk. The only store bought milk it likes is Humbolt Farms whole organic.

Oils/fats are a necessary component of most pastry. Seed oils are the cheapest kind and arguably not very good for you.

So I've heard. Also bad stuff with raising cholesterol. I don't know enough about diet to make very positive claims, but they are very new introductions to most white people's diet on an evolutionary timescale so I think it's reasonable we're not as well adapted to them as meat fats and dairy fats. Or even fruit fats like olive oil.

I started realizing how fucked up our food was when I started traveling to Europe. I was eating a lot of food comparatively and didn’t gain one pound. My stomach was happy, too. They’ve been poisoning us for a long, long time.

A doctor I talked to a while ago said that she had a regular patient with all kinds of food allergies/intolerances that made selecting food a nightmare. But, when same patient travelled to Europe on vacation, was able to eat whatever she wanted without all of those side effects. Came back to the USA, it all started over again.

We quit buying store bread a while ago. It has an unpleasant aftertaste. We make our bread and rolls now. It is not hard at all if you use a mixer to do the kneading. And our bread tastes really good and has a great texture. It has a "shelf life" of less than seven days. Whatever bread we have leftover we make breadcrumbs out of.
