I don't understand why anyone would spend that much money on that car. You could get a faster American muscle car for around the same price that probably handles just as good and has a way better interior.

American muscle cars are better for the interstate imo. With a big V8, there is no need to downshift to pass in most cases. The wheelbase is long enough for a good ride at higher speeds. Also the sound is better with more NA cylinders.

Isn't every iteration of the WRX STi weaker in horsepower with every model since gen3 in '07?
WRX Off memory, it has something to do with the gas emissions index and Euro/USA markets requiring major changes to engine design to reduce pollutants.
Since those regulations mainly apply to mfrs, you're probably better off buying a stock WRX then modifying it yourself. Maybe that has something to do with them not offering it.
They must have gotten tired of selling so many cars; this will reduce load on their factories, giving their employees more time to enjoy spending time with one another instead of slaving away on building WRX STIs.
If they go with an electric motor at each wheel, it could have an insane amount of torque and stupid acceleration. The problem is that the energy density of current battery tech means it will have shit range if you actually drive it hard. Can't make the battery bigger or it'll be too heavy to be nimble on the track.
