Bava Basra 25b (talmud) ~ The Sun's Orbit Around the Earth: In this passage the path of the Sun is described, and to understand it you need to know this. The rabbis of the Talmud believed that the earth was a flat disc, and that above the sky was an opaque covering called the rakia. During the day the Sun was visible under the rakia, and then at night it zipped back from where it set in the west to where it would rise again in the east by traveling over the rakia.

Is anyone suggesting that rabbis wrote the Talmud to trick jews? Observant jews are flat earthers. They follow the talmud.
They have to be poor enough to not afford travelling the Earth, if they could they'd see things such as the moon being rotated 180 degrees compared to the northern hemisphere. They'd also see the same night sky looking south from australia and south American countries.

I modified the code from the above article to raytrace the solar eclipse by simulating the motion of Earth/Moon/Sun system, and casting light from the Sun onto the Earth.

After initialization, position and velocity data was updated every second for 9 hours using the above Newton force laws. Images were recorded once a minute. Final video was compiled at 60 frames per second, yielding one hour of real time per second of video.
