Some time back in our lives, the option of a physical pay "check" cashed anywhere by it's bearer, was annihilated by the requirement of having a bank account in order to work in the majority of mainstream jobs. If you want to work at IBM, you need a bank account to get paid. If you want to work at starbucks, you still need that bank account. You could get a burner prepaid, it works but you will require it and you will have some disadvantages using a prepaid (services can be refused to you on basis of prepaid card).
The point is, without that account, you ain't eatin.
