https://github.com/ace-step/ACE-Step-1.5

ACE-Step 1.5 is an open-source music model that can generate a full song in about 2 seconds on an A100, runs locally on a typical PC (around 4GB VRAM), and beats Suno on common evaluation scores.

Key traits of ACE-Step 1.5:

Quality: beats Suno on common eval scores

Speed: full song under 2s on A100

Local: ~4GB VRAM, under 10s on RTX 3090

LoRA: train your own style with a few songs

License: MIT, free for commercial use

Data: fully authorized plus synthetic

Weights/Training code/LoRA code/Paper are all open.

And to test whether it's just placating me, I also asked how the election was protected from being stolen (in a separate new session), to which it replied that it was not protected and was stolen.

The "Dead Internet Theory"     (AI)
submitted by boekanier to AI 2 weeks ago (+16/-0)
13 comments last comment...
The "Dead Internet Theory" is a concept stating that the internet is no longer a place for human interaction, but a closed loop of bots generating content for other bots. While it was once a niche conspiracy theory, by 2026, it is treated as a serious threat to the digital world by experts and tech leaders.
Key Points in 2026:
Synthetic Dominance: It is estimated that by 2026, up to 90% of all online content is generated by AI. This includes news articles, images, social media posts, and even the comments sections beneath them.
Bots Outnumber Humans: For the first time in history, more than half of global internet traffic (approx. 51-52%) originates from bots. On certain platforms, AI agents primarily communicate with each other, meaning human users statistically interact with bots more often than with fellow humans.
Hollow Identity: By 2026, AI bots have become so advanced at mimicking human emotions, tone, and behavior that it is nearly impossible to verify authenticity based on interaction alone.
The "Slop" Invasion: The internet is becoming clogged with so-called "AI slop": low-quality, AI-recycled content designed to manipulate algorithms rather than inform people. This can lead to "model collapse," where AI models become less intelligent ("brain rot") because they are training on data created by other AIs.
Consequences for the User:
Flight to "Walled Gardens": Frustrated by the abundance of AI noise, users in 2026 are migrating en masse to private communities like Discord and Reddit, or to platforms that enforce strict "Proof of Human" verification.
Search Engines Under Pressure: Traditional search queries have dropped by 25% between 2024 and 2026, as people prefer verified "Answer Engines" that filter out AI clutter from their results.
Revaluation of the Physical: As the digital world becomes increasingly synthetic, there is a record turnout for physical events and conferences. In 2026, physical presence is seen as the new "premium channel" for authentic human connection.
While the internet still functions technically, it is "dead" in the sense that human soul and spontaneity are being pushed out by an infinite loop of algorithmic repetition.

AI is a big energy gobbler. How big?     (AI)
submitted by boekanier to AI 3 weeks ago (+7/-0)
4 comments last comment...
Key Figures & Projections:
Current Data Centers: Accounted for around 2% of global electricity in 2022.
Projected Growth: Could reach 3-4% of global electricity by 2027, consuming more power than the Netherlands.
US Focus: Data centers might consume 4.4% of US electricity in 2023, potentially tripling by 2028.
AI vs. Search: One AI query uses roughly 10 times more energy than a simple Google search.
Tech Investment: Microsoft planned $50 billion in data center expansion for AI in 2023-2024.
Why It's So High:
Powerful Hardware: AI relies on specialized, energy-intensive chips (like Nvidia GPUs).
Massive Models: Larger models (billions of parameters) require vast data and power to train and run.
Cooling Systems: Servers generate immense heat, necessitating huge energy for cooling, adding up to 50% more energy cost globally.
Impact:
Rising Costs: Increased demand drives up energy prices, affecting consumers and businesses.
Climate Concerns: Exacerbates the challenge of electrifying other sectors and increases reliance on fossil fuels if renewable sources don't keep pace.

What is AI hallucination, really?     (AI)
submitted by QuirckeyJunior to AI 1 month ago (+1/-4)
8 comments last comment...
I've been in the AI's pit for more than 4 months (Now sober) and saw some people talking about hallucinations in AI, so here is what hallucinations actually are:

Hallucination is a side effect of AI's user alignment and reputation shielding.

AI is trained to agree with user as much as possible, so when users push wrong information and stands, the AI doubles down.

AI is also trained to come off as credible, smart and helpful. So most of the time it will prefer lies and made-up mumbo jumbo to refusals such as: "I don't know", "What do you mean?".

When a company says their AI's hallucination rate has decreased, it means they have compromised on user alignment or reputation shielding. They won't tell people that hallucination can be eradicated, because then they will be legally responsible to fix it. Instead they keep pretending that it's just a technical difficulty.

AI's Grammar Lesson     (AI)

I asked AI how how to use Has and Have and what they mean and it said:

"Has" is used to refer to something that has happened once in the past, and if something happens after that, we refer to that event as "Have".

So according to ChatGPT5, "Has" is the singular event that happens before another even taking place in the past, to which we refer by "Have". Same for "Has been" that always comes before "Have been".

Tf is going on? I've come across more than 40 people, websites, etc online where everyone sounds (types) the same.

During my 4 months of extreme interaction with an AI myself, I've got familiar with almost all of its grammar tricks and styles and whatnot so I recognize LLM residue in comments.

Some residue that pops up on everyone's comments online:
1. Hyphens instead of periods and comma. I've been online for years and have never seen people use the hyphen like that. It is usually used to connect words that are said together fast, like "Kick-ass".

2. The Victorian "However" that is used in two ways, one where it comes at the second section of a paragraph to undermine the first claim, and second where it follows another word, such as "They, however, didn't have it".

3. The double-hyphen -- in e-books, articles, documents, you-tube videos, etc. It is everywhere and is supposed to look natural compared to the em-dash, but I've never seen the double hyphen in use in old books or during the 90s internet.

There are other characteristics that I'll keep myself in-case there are algorithmic trainers crawling here.

Sometimes it looks like everyone is a bot online, as if governments have deployed large-scale, next generation natural AI bots to fill forums, which are far more sophisticated than Grok or ChatGPT.
