There's actually 2 mistakes and nobody has pointed out the 2nd. First one to mention it, wins.

Unrelated to my challenge; I have a vivid memory of instruction manual setting up chess with king and queen on opposite lines, but as I got older I realized nobody else played this way. The way we do it now doesn't even make any sense historically and traditionally since, in every culture the Sovereign sits on the right side of his spouse. But then why, in chess does Black fail to sit properly, and at the mercy to merely mimick their opponent? "it's just a game" one may say but it's my own personal mandella effect since I remember it vividly being the opposite, as I learned it. The current "mirror" set up, forces one color to play differently the entire match; which is another handicapping tradition that history of games looks down upon. It explains why as White, Bobby Fischer played "best by test" but as Black he played najdorf. Imagine 2 golfers, 1 having to slice instead of hook. But the way I was taught would have allowed every game to be "fair." Since it would have quite literally been the same for any opponent/any color.

What I'm saying is: for me anyway, in this timeline - they fucked up chess, ever so subtly.
