Yes, incredibly specifically and within 12 hours. My wife and I were in an unfamiliar area in southeast Washington state. We had been living in Kentucky for six months and decided to go on a cross country drive back to Maine. Lol. There were some good times but mostly it sucked. We did visit my brother in Oregon, and visited a handful of western states we had missed on a previous hitchhiking trip.
Anyways, this may sound lame, but we needed gas money and a place to park our van, and we both really felt like having a big bag of cooking herbs would cheer us up. We prayed for those three things and went on with our day.
That evening we came into a town and noticed a large church parking lot. We thought at least one prayer was answered, but within 5 minutes a guy came up and asked if we had permission to park there. We said no and he asked us to leave since it was private property. We left, and within minutes noticed flashing headlights in the rear view. It was the guy. He let us park in his driveway, which was right next to the church, in the morning he offered us use of his bathroom and shower, gave us a huge box of food, money, a giant bag of herbs, and some newspapers from when Mt St. Helens erupted.
I live in Maine. We usually make a quart or so of syrup and drink gallons of sap. We will usually still boil a 5 gallon bucket of sap down to 3.5 or 4 gallons. Kills bacteria and bugs and gives it a little extra sweetness. That said, I would not buy it.
Rabbi, he goes into mouse communities and infests them with toxoplasmosis g which is a brain altering parasite. This brainwashes the mice into loving the thing that will kill them.
***We*** are being placated. If Hillary had been in power during COVID what would you have done? Trump is there to trick us into thinking our guy will keep us safe. He didn't last time and he won't this time. He is a tool, just like all other world leaders.
Fren, you provided all the proof with how you responded to my comments. You instantly accused me of promoting works based salvation. I never promoted that, never have and never will. We are called as believers to live a righteous life, and that is defined by God, not my feelings or yours.
If I used the phrase perfect obedience it was in the same context that you claim we should seek a sinless life, KNOWING we will fail. Why is that okay for you to say and not me? I happen to have a reference manual for what sin is, most Christians claim it is just "love". You seemed to be presenting those points in ways I have seen before. These conversations are not easy on here with lots of room for misinterpreting intent or even entire premises.
I have insisted this entire time we believe the same thing about salvation, yet you have fought me every step, claiming my definitions are wrong and I am trying to earn my salvation. Can you read back and admit you were misjudging me?
You said "no one is perfect"...yet you left unsaid that YOU are perfect in your own mind, don't try to pretend that wasn't your meaning.
My definitions WERE right, and you were wrong. You said metanoia means to turn away NOT to change your mind. Now you say "oh duh it means change mind". Guess what, Romans 12:2 doesn't use the word repent or the Greek Metanoia. I was wrong...yet you are claiming you know this and that and duh dummy. Lol.
>
Yes, we should repent at every opportunity, that we may be conformed to the image of His Son, in perfection; yet we are to know, we will never reach that perfection in this flesh, we await a more perfect hope, in Christ Jesus.
So we agree then on this most critical point. So what is this sinless perfection we should be seeking to imitate, with the knowledge we will never fully attain it? How can I know what behaviors God finds acceptable? I know I can't trust my own feelings about these things, because prior to salvation I convinced myself that sin was okay. So simple question, how can I have check and balance on my own emotions and desires to make sure they are in line with what God wants? Is there any concrete list of dos and don'ts that I can refer to in order to give myself a basic starting framework of right behavior?
I believe there is, and it is not one command in Galatians 6 as you claim.
You are defining it that way for me. You are "making that shit up". That IS the standard set for us by the Messiah, but it is also the reason we NEED a mediator between us and God. We will always sin. Just like a dog returns to its vomit, we foolishly return to behavior that we know is disgusting. We are smarter than dogs about our throw up, but we justify our sin...yummy.
Why are you putting the phrase "perfect obedience" into my mouth? You spent most of your reply being like "you made this up, now I'm going to make something up".
You SEEM to be parroting christianese talking points, but maybe I am guilty of the same thing I accused you of.
Did you look up the definition of metanoia? I was wrong about Romans 12:2, but absolutely right about the definition. You have confused cause and effect. The change of mind results in turning away from sin (or whatever). The definition of repentance IS to change your mind.
Did David "unbecome" a child of God when he signed? Absolutely not! I totally agree with you. I have never claimed anything different. It sounds like we differ on the rules, but because of your churchian brainwashing you believe the lie that obeying God's perfect eternal righteous holy good just commands has somehow been turned into sin. I have faith in the one that God sent, the Messiah prophesied to bring the nation to complete repentance and perfect obedience to "guess what?" God's laws given through Moses.
Obedience is not sin. Obedience doesn't get you into heaven, only trusting Jesus does that.
Obedience does build us up treasures in heaven, a house of gold and silver and precious stones, or one of stubble. We get in either way, and "better to be a doorkeeper in the house of God..." Some make it by the "skin of their teeth", some run their race only to be disqualified at the end.
I disagree about the word repent, but it may have multiple meanings, I seem to recall that Paul uses the word metanoia in that verse and it is translated there as "renewing of your mind". Repentance is changing your mind about what is right and wrong, resulting in obedience to God's law.
