Soil depletion is a major source of mineral deficiency. Processed food is another.
Magnesium, potassium, and iodine are three of the most important minerals that almost everyone is deficient in.
There's a conspiracy around potassium. I noticed years ago that all of the potassium pills in the store are 99mg, and that on the back it says that is 2% of the recommended daily value (RDA). At 2% RDA obviously you would have to take 50 potassium pills everyday. With a lot of bottles, there's not even a two day supply in them. Plus, what else is in the tablet, binders, other chemicals, who wants 50 of those a day? The US government regulates the amount of potassium to 99mg "for your safety", otherwise the bottle has to have a warning on it. Large adult males need almost 5,000mg of potassium per day. This works out to almost a pound every three months, or around four pounds per year. That's a lot of metal. If you are heavier or eat a lot of sodium (who doesn't) you need even more potassium because those two nutrients compete with each other. I have not added this much potassium to my diet but I'm about to, I'll let you know how it goes.
Magnesium is one of the most widely used substances in your body. Without it your energy and mental health suffers. I'll keep this section short for emphasis, if you don't feel great, magnesium can help.
There's not enough iodine in salt to keep you healthy. They took iodine out of bread and added bromine, which is toxic and lowers the amount of iodine in your system. Bromine in food is proof enough that the rich want you sick and dead. If your kids don't get enough iodine growing up it can take off 15 IQ points or more. Iodine can also remove heavy metals from the body and keeps your thyroid healthy. Take Lugol's 2% solution every morning it will keep you healthy. Don't take iodine at the same time as vitamin C.
Vitamin D is important (technically a hormone) but sunlight is better than pill form because it's sulfated and it makes it more soluble. If you don't get much sun, get the vitamin K2/MK7 D3 combo, and make sure you take it with magnesium and potassium or it can pull the calcium out of your bones. Some people recommend 10,000IU a day of vitamin D3, don't do it, it can fuck up your bones, teeth, and calcify your muscles and veins. 1000-2000IU a day is enough for a lot of people but consider all the sources of your diet and don't overdo it. If you're going to take vitamin D, go the K2/MK7/D3 route, plenty of videos out there about vitamin D. The government RDA for vitamin D is 400IU, that's just enough to keep a person from getting rickets.
Vitamin K2 is another thing that kids need to develop properly. Vitamin K deficiencies can lead to a severe overbite and your kid will end up looking like a Simpson's character. The brain also needs K2 to develop and function properly.
Get high quality vitamins like the guy recommends in the article. If a multi-vitamin has B-12 listed as "Cyanocobalamin", it's cheap. Using third party tested vitamins is best to avoid getting jewed, it's hard to find those reports. If you stick with the Life Extension brand or Pure Encapsulation you should be good. If it's made in China or India, etc, avoid it.
