I have never had to sharpen the particular blade I posted. It is made like a samurai sword: hard steel sandwhiched by softer steel.

I don't abuse my blades (unless it's a beater knife) and will only occasionally strop it on my jeans. Had the knife for over 10 years.

Benchmade (Blue) knives are generally always worth their price. I had a 940 and loved it, but I lost it. I prefer the leaf blade shape of the spyderco though.
