I had an old email that I didn't log in to for years. I logged into it and it was full of spam about sexy girls and hemorrhoid cvreams and miracle cures. 20-40 emails per day. I was pissed.
So I spent 1 month reporting every single email via spamcop.
What this does is notify the administrator of the network from which the spam is coming about the spammer. And they shut down his account or their customer's compromised account that the spammer hacked.
After that month was done I was getting ZERO spam. I shut down all those spam niggers. Not only could they no longer spam me, they could not spam anyone.
With that said, if you have the time, take a few minutes out of your day to report every spam you get.
On thunderbird this is pretty easy. Ctrl+U + Ctrl+A + Ctrl+C + Alt+Tab + Ctrl+V
