Just to clarify the "article" doesn't mention this is only installed in vehicles of the owners that have been caught speeding a number of times.

The state is full of dumb democretins that don't follow road rules. It's a law by stupid people for stupid people.

That's what you get when you live in a majority democrat state. You get treated like the status quo (idiots).

[ - ] Spaceman84 3 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 11:02:15 ago (+3/-0)

It’s a really shitty article. ChatGPT could have done better than whatever retard copy/pasted this together.

[ - ] BulletStopper 2 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 12:28:43 ago (+2/-0)

Ever notice that a democrat utopia and a maximum security prison bear a striking resemblance to one another?

[ - ] JudyStroyer 2 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 13:53:05 ago (+2/-0)

Theyre like conjoined twins.

[ - ] Panic [op] 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 15:18:10 ago (+1/-0)

Agree. Only for bad drivers. At first. Then years later, mandatory. You'll see.

[ - ] NoRefunds 5 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 10:41:09 ago (+5/-0)

OH cool, limit all cars speeds. But can't seem to get a handle on illegals on the road, especially with CDLs huh?

[ - ] JustALover 5 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 09:51:49 ago (+5/-0)

Cars already know the current speed limit thanks to GPS. Cars can already control their speeds due to cruise control.

The bill proposes that the two things combine, into a forced limiter.

So it sounds like it's time to get an old, retarded car that doesn't have any electronics. Why not a Model T?

[ - ] mahavishnunj 4 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 10:26:32 ago (+4/-0)

I work at a body shop and they are making it increasingly more difficult to deal with computer shit. We have the normal equipment, which is expensive as hell, but now we have to take Cadillacs and BMWs to the nearest dealer because the normal equipment doesn't work anymore. Insurance and car companies are racking the fuck up on that scam.

[ - ] Climhazzard 3 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 10:06:56 ago (+3/-0)

Go to retirement neighborhoods, and offer cash for decent old cars that barely get driven. Skip repairs and maintenance (besides the basics) and save enough money to buy another one to do it again.

[ - ] VitaminSieg 3 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 11:39:54 ago (+3/-0)

Or fight the bullshit laws and the people advocating for them rather than let it happen and try to circumvent.

[ - ] JudyStroyer 2 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 13:56:25 ago (+2/-0)

You’ve got to maintain them, eventually your pool of useable cars will dry up doing the pump and dump.

[ - ] Climhazzard 0 points 1 weekJun 3, 2025 14:06:08 ago (+0/-0)

Maintain them or save and buy another?

[ - ] JudyStroyer 0 points 4 daysJun 10, 2025 09:37:19 ago (+0/-0)

Maintain. Save and buy another of the same vehicle is a solid choice as well. At that point buying parts will cover both.

[ - ] Peleg 2 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 11:06:48 ago (+2/-0)

You can choose any color you want, as long as it's black.
H. Ford.

[ - ] dassar 2 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 16:40:49 ago (+2/-0)

What happens if you're in an emergency? - being chased by kidnappers, car jackers, criminals, deranged ex-partner, have a non-responsive adult or child in the car on the way to an ER - or all those disaster clips of people outrunning wild fires and tsunamis?/

This is just fcking dumb.

[ - ] Panic [op] 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 20:37:55 ago (+1/-0)

deranged ex-partner

Oh, you know my ex-wife!

But everything you mention is a very valid point. Thanks.

[ - ] JudyStroyer 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 13:54:57 ago (+1/-0)

Ive got 4 vehicles that are pre obdii. Thats plenty far back in time enough

[ - ] Leveraction 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 14:34:47 ago (+1/-0)

Would not pay a fucking dime for ANY NEW car!!!

[ - ] bobdole9 5 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 09:23:13 ago (+5/-0)

Democrats consider everyone is dumber than them

Democrats propose retarded solution to a "non-existant" problem

Democrat law forces cars to become more expensive and ironically deadly.

If I take this new vehicle offroad, will it be bricked? Can I drive 120mph into someone's house intentionally, as long as I am not on a street?

[ - ] con77 4 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 09:56:19 ago (+5/-1)

Id move

[ - ] Peleg 3 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 11:10:22 ago (+3/-0)

Hi con77. It's good to have you back with us other retards.
My first thought was to move also. Eventually we will run out of places to move to.

[ - ] Sector2 2 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 11:59:51 ago (+2/-0)

I moved, and it's worked out great for the past 44 years or so. Population increase mandates may ruin this place, but haven't yet discovered a viable alternative.

[ - ] con77 0 points 1 weekJun 4, 2025 19:58:41 ago (+0/-0)

Thank you

[ - ] SteppingRazor 2 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 11:49:32 ago (+2/-0)

All you need to know from an article linked:
The BEAM Act (named after the four who died in the crash in Renton) requires ISA devices as a condition for restricted or occupational driver’s licenses following license suspensions tied to reckless driving or repeat speeding violations.

[ - ] Sector2 3 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 12:01:24 ago (+3/-0)

So it IS only punishing the guilty (during the first stage).

[ - ] dassar 0 points 1 weekJun 3, 2025 03:12:53 ago (+0/-0)

So , what happens if they use someone else's or a parent's vehicle ??.
This is still dumb.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 17:26:22 ago (+1/-0)

Niggers and spics are going to be the only ones stupid enough to get nailed by this.

[ - ] Nosferatjew 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 15:01:11 ago (+1/-0)

All new cars already have this functionality. I guess they just want to turn it on.

[ - ] texasblood 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 14:38:15 ago (+1/-0)

Buy clean older units and keep'em around.
We have 3 spare trucks here not including the two wheelers

[ - ] Leveraction 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 14:32:53 ago (+1/-0)

Fuck you gubberment!!

And fuck off with your control freakism.

Get a life!

[ - ] Spaceman84 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 11:00:43 ago (+2/-1)

Levitt says that it was the families who pushed for this law, because they were the ones who shared their stories again and again

Poorly written article. No mention of who this (((Levitt))) is. Just a sentence with zero context.

[ - ] Razzoriel 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 10:52:20 ago (+1/-0)

I see a huge potential in speed limiter hacking, just like people hack into farm equipment with repair firewalls.

[ - ] Razzoriel 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 10:51:22 ago (+1/-0)

It will never last.

[ - ] Sal_180 1 point 1 weekJun 2, 2025 10:39:44 ago (+2/-1)

HB 1596 aims to hold the most dangerous drivers accountable by requiring the use of intelligent speed assistance (ISA) devices for individuals whose licenses have been suspended due to reckless or excessive speeding

Forgot to mention that part in the article

[ - ] Prairie 0 points 1 weekJun 2, 2025 21:17:15 ago (+0/-0)

So you won't have to look at speed limit signs anymore?
