people who don't cook like to add things to the cooking process because they think it makes them look like they know how to cook.

Examples

getting flour and batter everywhere when making pancakes/cupcakes

over mixing

washing chicken

turning the oven on 300 for a pre boxed frozen item so it takes 2 hours to cook instead of the ~20 mins it should take so they can say "I spent all day cooking!"
