Nissan has had some very very good cars and trucks throughout the years, I'd argue as good or better than toyota and honda. But like all manufacturers it's model specific.

For sure.
I think it was a dual turbo v6 which is asking for some trouble imo. Also I feel as though at that time it was an arms race in Japan for fast sports cars.
Same deal with Mazda rotaries. Some engines are fine and some are just junk. Also can be very temperamental.
When I was young and into the street racer/car club scene I owned a 1986 180sx hatchback stick shift rear wheel drive and a 1989 Pulsar sx stick shift front wheel drive with removable T-tops. Those where some fun cars to drive and easy to modify for big power gains. The Pulsar was fast as fuck and could easily smoke most 90's cars. The 180sx was a smooth fuck around car. You could power slide and drift so easily. I could put that bitch sideways around a corner and snap it right back with a flick of the stick and change gears without touching the clutch. My buddy still has a 91 Sentra two door with the SR20 bluebird engine. He custom fitted it with an Infiniti G20 transmission for the limited slip to control the oversteer when changing gears at high rpm. That fucking car is a rice rocket

I do miss that shit. When I had my rx8, power gains of real significance were unreasonably expensive. $10k for a turbo or supercharger kit, plus you're gonna need to upgrade your breaks, ecu, clutch and tons of other shit too. To top it off have it all tuned right so it doesn't blow your seals. Cost more than the damn car.
