Here's something none of you have ever heard - probably. I did share it with COF back in the day, but I think that was privately shared. I don't know if it was ever shared in public. I do know that this came from my archives and I just uploaded it as I'm typing this...

Back in the day, I was putting together a band. They're known as BDE. (Some of you still have some merchandise.) As I was putting them together, we held auditions at my house. They were all given a chance to practice and then had to perform a song they knew but didn't know well.

I am not playing any instruments and only decided to add vocals at the last minute. There was a mic set up and things were going well. My voice is a bit weak in this one, so I don't quite have Ozzy's tone - but it's close enough. If you heard it in a bar, you'd stop and listen.

I think they would welcome you with open arms! For sure. Let you take the lead of the show if thats what you want, or let you be just a guitar player if thats what you want instead! You should have it made with them. They would probably even let you drum if you wanted to!

Oh, I'm 100% certain they'll let me do any damned thing I want. If it wasn't for me, they'd still be working regular jobs and making shit for money. They know this and appreciate this.

So, they'll let me do anything I damned well please.

I wouldn't want to do anything that would cause them discomfort or harm, which they also know.

My buddy Chris just messaged me, he is gone up north for Turkey hunting which starts tomorrow, and wouldn't you just know what he did today. He went rafting down a river with rapids and had himself a blast. Just what we were talking about a couple hours ago!

LOL Coincidences are awesome. I find them amusing, while others look at them to find some deeper meaning. I just accept that statistics are statistics. Every coincidence that could realistically happen has surely happened.

And, I'm sure they'll let me have fun. I'll have to get some recordings for some new material.

Yup. That's my vocals. I can sound similar to a bunch of vocalists. I spent years working on that. My passion is covers but I want to reproduce them at the highest level possible.

Yup...

This isn't a recording meant for you. It's a recording meant for the band. We had someone in the audience recording the audience for feedback purposes. (Plus they had a camera so they could project the audience on the screen behind us.) It's from a fairgrounds where we had maybe 10k people in the audience.

Awesome. Did you pick with a thick ass coin for authenticity? I never understood that. Brian May was my very first mystical music/guitar experience. Everyone says Machine Gun is the greatest guitar solo ever, which I'm on board with, but for me it's We Will Rock You. I could listen to it 100 times in a row right now and get goose bumps every time.

I keep a variety of picks available, on my person and attached to the boom of my microphone - though I may also use a headset with an IEM and a mic. The band in question is a high production band. They roll in with a giant truck and even have their own trailer that carries a giant stage that can be configured in a bunch of ways.

Well, technically, I still own the trailer.

They have a laser show and a projector. The roadies will do things like walk through the audience and show that up on the screen. There's a set of visuals that also go with the various songs. It's well choreographed and well rehearsed.

They were my magnum opus. They all came from another band and I pretty much just usurped that. Their leader, also their lead guitarist, was inept and they were lucky to make $100 each per night.

I showed them how to fit a niche and invested a bunch of capital into the band. They now all make their living through their musicianship - though some also give lessons for additional income. It was set up as a tax-paying business, so they weathered the pandemic and were pretty much the only local band to survive the downtime.

All the other bands fell apart, meaning they had even less competition.

If you have a large enough venue, and you're local, you can hire them. You can plan on paying five figures for a full show. You'll get your money's worth in return. I know, 'cause I taught them myself. They're professionals who come in and do their job.

@Sleazy even has some of the band's merchandise. I believe he has two shirts. One is a mockup and signed by the band. Another member had some merch, but he is no longer with us due to cancer.

There's a huge market for it. In Japan(obviously). I saw a concert from there recently where the composer/guitarist was playing the video game music live with a full band and it was REALLY cool.

I just started really playing again in the last week. I can't do full chords yet, alternate pick, or do big stretches, but I can tell it'll come back.

I was already trying to eliminate alternate picking before the hands went gay, but coming out of it, I've been finding a bunch of workarounds. A couple of nights ago I posted one for some Discord friends and got youtube subscriptions from strangers wanting more. So if shit like this helps anyone, let me know:

I got shit on relentlessly for that guitar, but I loved it. So easy to play. Everyone says they sound like shit, but that's because they're morons and plug them in. ALL acoustics sound like shit plugged in. You could easily do whole step neck bends on it and it would stay in tune.

That's from an amazing FREE show with 1000s of people, and the only video evidence is one shaky as fuck terrible quality source. I can't even find audio of it, it was the Blood Mountain tour in the park in Austin.

Damn, that might be the best video I've seen of them, thanks. I could've seen them many times, but assumed they were yet another shitty metal band. Then I heard Leviathan and couldn't believe how gay I'd been. That show I saw was interesting, mostly families and shit sitting on picnic blankets, you could easily get as close or far as you wanted.

After that I walked about 3 miles to see a Japanese pianist who never showed after I sat through 2 terrible jazz bands.
