Back in the late 2000s, early 2010s, I woke up one night with a stabbing pain in my jaw.
I had all of my wisdom teeth removed the year before, but one tooth was in a bad position and they decided to decline removing it. It was in the lower jaw, right side.
I got an X-ray at the ER and it showed the tooth had managed to get into the nerve. They gave me a list of specialists to see as soon as possible and numbed me up enough to give me some relief for a couple of days.
I got the first appointment I could. After a drastic surgery which resulted in me getting choked while I was awake and under anesthesia for a couple of hours, I woke up to a surgeon telling me that I was one of the most difficult surgeries that he had to take.
A few days later, I couldn't move my jaw at all, or feel anything. They said it was normal.
A month later, it was still in the same condition. While I had some of the movement and feeling on the inside of my jaw return, the feeling on the bottom right side of my face never came back.
It's been years since then. I've been through therapy and I've forced myself to have better jaw movement through some days of intense pain and soreness. What did the surgeon say? "You're lucky you can still move and feel everything in your tongue."
I still have to sleep with covers on all of my pillows for the random days when I fall asleep and wake up covered in drool, not even by choice. I have a revolving subscription on Amazon for Anbesol because I'm constantly biting my lip in places that I can't feel and I only know because my lip and gums start to swell. I've had girlfriends break up with me and tell me that I can't kiss them the way that they like, for obvious reasons.
TLDR: Whatever way you feel, you're lucky man. Someone else could have it way worse.
Yikes I'm so sorry to hear that. It's definitely about as good as it could be. 95% flawless job / perfect conditions.. Was definitely shocked when they showed me a video there with what all could happen. My main whiney bitch is because of life complications I've been working a job I was supposed to leave 3 months in, 2 years ago. The dental work is the last complication. Wish people informed on the complications that can come from wisdom teeth surgery. Why tf do dentists just let these teeth go bad? (that's how mine ended up needing removed)
I don't recall getting my wisdom teeth removed being all that bad. Took the day off. Procedure in morning. Spent the afternoon playing video games. Back to work with cotton balls in my mouth the day after.
Eat only steak and salt every day and soak up as much sun as you can without burning. Take magnesium citrate or glycinate and a chelated copper supplement. (Or grass fed beef liver assuming it has sufficient copper)
As someone with colitis that actually pays attention to the affects of food.. The right food definitely gives you significant jumps in healing just in single meals. Once I got back to blended meats in the blended potatoes I started getting significant healing jumps just in one day. Thanks!
Colitis? Definitely experiment with an elimination diet. Don’t want any plant toxins, proteins, or fiber to mess with your large intestines.
This organ is responsible for serotonin production which gives us joy. I get depressed and fatigue the next day if I eat garbage. Guess I’ll have to wait for my birthday to have that pizza and carbs.
Still on second week. I think being forced to open my mouth at full capacity near immediately might have ripped something on the bottom hole.
Other catch is the forced diet goes directly against the diet I have to eat for colitis.
I’ve been doing dental shit for 4 months lol now. Just wanna change my fucking job or get more pay already. Can’t even lift to add to my madness. Can’t play the saxophone. Just gotta sit and rot eating stuff about ready to make me puke for maybe 3 or more weeks if the one socket got screwed up. Not even supposed to check it properly.
Stress isn't going to help heal faster or properly. Stay hydrated and eat the right foods. Relax, buddy. Healing properly is better than fighting possible infection. Eat lots of cooling cucumber.
