Suicide is sometimes the greater option

submitted by Storefront to whatever 1 monthApr 26, 2025 22:04:08 ago (+7/-6)     (whatever)

In my career, I did time in Guatemala, Lebanon, the west bank, Moroccan ghettos. The world is shit and sometimes I understand suicide completely. I am a Christian but I also understand the futility of life on earth. And it's OK to think about it, at least I think, because sometimes it feels like the greater option, the better option, even the more pure option, more pure than trying to survive in this jungle hellscape we call life on earth. I pray for the strength to carry on often, but also recognize the strength in death.

Agreed. Them that wheeze about suicide being for cowards are the exact same fools that die while begging and crying for JAYSUS to "let me live!"....just one more minute, hour, day, etc. One would think true believers would be anxious to sit on clouds, strum harps, and wait for a turn to lick the toejammy from HIS feet! One would invariably be wrong.

Long ago I worked at a 'retirement home' (actually a old folks warehouse their greedy adult kids stuck them in!), and saw many a fool not die with a beatific smile on their face. Each one went out with the standard look of horror....the xtians should of by now patented! Ten years ago I was condemned to spend two days and three nights at an ICU for pneumonia. My roomie was another of these cowardly xtians, who spent every waking minute crying for LARDY to let him live. Nothing has changed. Still scared shitless of dying. The truest mark of cowardice is to endure a slow 'natural' death of agony, because some god or shitty religion demands it....or because one is too damn spineless to circumvent it. Real courage is flipping the bird to outside forces, choosing your own departure time and method, staring death in the face, then making the leap without hesitation or regret. That is true bravery the sheeple will never know, nor even slightly understand.

Exist out of spite.

Before doing this, tell us what it is that has you down. You are not as trapped as you have convinced yourself that you are.

We all have struggles. TELL US ABOUT YOURS, PLEASE.

And be forever known as a coward? Go back to those places and tell everyone along the way that Jesus was right about the jews instead - that will give you a lot to live for and laugh about along the way.

Stop talking like this. You’ve posted that you have children and are a widow. Would you really want to orphan your kids?

The strength lies in not having fear of death, I think.

Fear is your body’s security system.

You dumb dumb motherfucker.

"Those that hold on to their lives will lose them", That's what the bible says anyway.

I think that there is comfort in the knowledge that at any moment we can cease to be. Whatever tribulations we face, whatever pain inherent in sentience, we have the power to erase at any time we choose. The void of oblivion surpasses all, and so it can be a great friend to walk with in life, to remind oneself that they, therefore, can surpass all.

I think about this concept nearly every waking moment.

I am posting this the following day. I was going to come back and delete this because I felt terrible about causing anyone grief. I've been struggling with just lots of life things lately and it came to ahead. But I was really touched by all the kind words here and read each comment and it meant a lot to me. So I'm going to leave it in case anyone else wants to read, and in the meantime, going to take some time off the internet and get some help. Thank you guys.

It's good to disconnect for a while every so often, especially from a place such as this. I hope you feel better soon, fren.

Hope the time away gets you the help you need. Fingers crossed you'll shitpost once again after finding a better headspace.

I just can't take anything anymore. It's not that I don't see the flaws in my logic, or the fact I might go to hell. I just can't imagine a pain worse than this. I am sure it exists, and I hear you all. I just say, i think it is the option that makes more sense, for a flawed and useless woman like me.

If you can't do it by the year, do it by the month. If you can't do it by the month, do it by the week. If you can't do it by the week, do it by the day. If you can't do it by the day, do it by the hour. If you can't do it by the hour, do it by the minute. If you can't do it by the minute, do it by the second.

Just a few things:
1) Yes, it is an option that makes sense in some cases.
However,
2) It’s surprising how pain can be ameliorated by letting go of what you think you have to value and just embracing seeing what life will bring, no matter what. (A good friend many decades ago was facing his end by cancer and told me: “I considered it but then thought ‘fuck-it’ why not hang around and see what happens.” He enjoyed several more important years.)
3) Though you may feel flawed and useless, always remember there are millions who are truly flawed and useless and you are most certainly better than all of those millions.
Wish you strength, take care.

what kind of career? i'm curious. and no suicide is not an option. specially if you are a christian. you will end up in hell because only God decides when and how you ought to go.

yes existence can be terrible but even when its bad there's a reason for it. we might not see it but we all are playing a role on this planet. all human souls have value to the creator even those that we might deemed unworthy or inferior.

the creator doesnt think like you and i. thank God for that

Never give them the satisfaction.

[ - ] Whatthefuck 4 points 1 monthApr 26, 2025 22:15:29 ago (+5/-1)

Right? Why not die fighting your enemies, in glory? I'm sorry for whatever makes people feel hopeless or whatever, but I can't defend someone who kills themselves. It's the ultimate act of cowardice.

[ - ] Drstrangestgov 3 points 1 monthApr 26, 2025 22:58:36 ago (+3/-0)

I suspect there's more arkancide than anyone could have guessed.
