do you use Kimchi? No it's not a Japanese courtesan. It's a Sauerkraut-type dish that apparently is good for the gut.

I have a sensitive stomach which makes me feel queasy especially after my morning dump. I ate vegemite (yeast) but couldn't detect any benefit. Was going to get some non-alcoholic beer but...bit expensive.

Its not tobacco or heroin, neri.

You dont use it, habitually. You eat it.

Stick with Sauerkraut, it's more pro-biotic and has less spiciness.
There's also a big difference between pickled and fermented foods.
Some Folk even make fermented Beef but I would not consume it.

I have. I don't really like it. IMO it's better for your gut than vegemite. Yeast and gut bacteria are not the same thing. The advantage to Kimchi over probiotic yogurt is that kimchi feeds your existing gut bacteria. Think about it, you have 100 trillion bacteria in your gut, and you want to increase the population because research says that's good. Are you going to add 10,000 more bacteria from a cup of yogurt, or feed the existing 100 trillion better?

So any fiber feeds gut bacteria. In theory because the kimchi has been broken down some it's more available to the bacteria. Plus you do get the inoculation same as yogurt. But that's seems silly to me to care about unless you just got off antibiotics.

So that's what pro-kimchi people say. My own opinion is any fiber will grow gut bacteria and kimchi sucks. No flavor penetrates the cabbage. The sauce is too thin. The sauce is to spicy for how bland the cabbage is. The flavor goes all over the place. Bland, spicy, bland, spicy. Fuck kimchi. Making sure to get some plants based food in every meal will do more anyway. Sauerkraut is almost the exact same thing and has a consistent taste and pairs with more foods.

I eat it every so often when I get in the mood. I like very spicy food, so I try to get the most spicy and garlic heavy brand I can find. Not sure what the options are in your area. Kimchi is fermented like sauerkraut, but can be heavily spiced, and is a Korean side dish, not Japanese, BTW.

Kimchi is not good, because acid and spicy. German Sauerkraut is great.
