I remember watching "The Running Man" in the 80s and "Demolition Man" in the 90s and thinking those scenarios were a bit far fetched, but possible given enough time. I see I underestimated the time table.

By the way, this is EXACTLY why I don't even drive through any part of Los Angeles, even on the freeway. If I have to go north, I take another route to bypass that area altogether.

I doubt it. California is horribly corrupt, and Gavin Newsom redirects money wherever he want it to go at will. Like all politicians, he knows it isn't "real" money, just magic fiat money.
