They should make them out of styrofoam so you don't need such a big battery. A basic car to run to the store or bank. A new one would go for about 900 bucks and last a year or two. Your insurance would probably be pretty expensive, tho.

I've seen a couple electric bike cars on jewtube, and while these are small and enclosed like cars, the cost is still $10-20k. Yet an electric bike with the same power and range costs $1k. Very odd.

[ - ] lolxd 1 point 1 monthMar 26, 2025 12:18:42 ago (+1/-0)

Every pound of extra weight reduces the efficiency of the motor, for every reduction in efficiency the power demands of the battery exponentially increases. When you begin to compensate range with more battery you add alot of weight quickly because the fucking batteries in the stupid EV cars makes up 80% of the entire thing.

~200lb e-bike vs ~16,000lb car

[ - ] localsal 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 14:40:02 ago (+1/-1)

Um, yeah, this thing doesn't weigh anywhere close to 16000lbs, yet still costs $10k.

It only has 3 wheels and won't ever be classified as a car for safety certificates.

Here's another one for $19k

wow, that's queer as fuck, I bet Queeri will buy one.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:21:25 ago (+0/-0)

$10k is still a bit much, even for that. I've seen a few builds on jewtube that're 4-wheeled and much better than that for far cheaper. Small enough for you to take it in the elevator, covered so you can use it in the weather, and decent enough to go shopping with. Not a kid-carrier, though I could see trailers made for that.

There's those big cargo-ebikes that can have a couple of kids in them, but they're also expensive as fuck. It's a demand that isn't being properly met yet. The company that does a good job of it for cheap will pull massive bank.

[ - ] lolxd 0 points 1 monthMar 27, 2025 00:11:01 ago (+0/-0)

I said 16,000lb car because I'm using examples I'm familiar with not calling your ev bike that.

WEIGHT MATTERS AND EXPONENTIALLY INCREASES BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS MADE OF FUCKING HEAVY METAL.

And no, I don't want to buy one.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:17:57 ago (+0/-0)

~200lb e-bike

Mine's 70lbs. Of course I made it myself from a high-end mountain bike, a motor, and a huge battery. And by the simple dint of not being fat it goes more than far enough, fast enough, for me to use it all summer.

An EV is just too big for the current battery tech we have.

[ - ] lolxd 0 points 1 monthMar 27, 2025 00:06:33 ago (+0/-0)

70lb bike + 130lb person = ~200 the lardass on said bike does matter it's why its in my original estimate.

[ - ] localsal 0 points 1 monthMar 27, 2025 02:11:04 ago (+0/-0)

Unless the driver weighs 10,000lbs, the car will not weigh 16,000lbs

Teslas weigh 6000lbs at most, and the cybertruck under 7000lbs.

[ - ] lolxd 0 points 1 monthMar 27, 2025 12:44:59 ago (+0/-0)

And a Honda Civic weighs 3,000. Electric cars are fucking heavy.

[ - ] localsal 0 points 1 monthMar 27, 2025 12:55:14 ago (+0/-0)

I doubt anybody is disputing the fact that electric cars are heavy. But there is no need to exaggerate so much either.

The commercial drones use lithium batteries and people have fun with them, same with the RC cars, etc - but those only last on the scale of minutes. Use case matters, and most EV users would like some range, and that requires the heavy battery, but many EV users are ok with that too for their needs.

In many places where people travel long distances, such as the US, I would guess many people end up with an EV for short trips, but then an ICE vehicle for the long trips.

Whats “rams”?

[ - ] CaptainMongo 3 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 07:38:42 ago (+3/-0)

Typo, RAMs Should Be REMs [Rare Earth Metals] Used In Electric Motors...

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 1 monthMar 26, 2025 08:31:51 ago (+2/-1)

That makes more sense.

Webp! Its a dream come true!

Where a gas powered car just grows on trees

[ - ] TheBigGuyFromQueens 2 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 08:03:11 ago (+2/-0)

That reminds of the movie “No Cunt Tree for Old Men.” I never understood the title. I mean this crazy guy with a weird haircut is killing everyone, but they title it something about an old guy and his cunt tree. I tried to plant a cunt tree, but surprisingly nothing ever came of it. Didn’t even get one seedling let alone a pussy out of it.

[ - ] NoRefunds 2 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 10:30:44 ago (+2/-0)

yeah but no ones fucking pretending it is green or saving the earth, dumbass

[ - ] Sal_180 -3 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 11:10:58 ago (+0/-3)

Except over the life cycle of the car, the ev produces far less co2. I don't think anyone ever suggested manufacturing them used no ene6

[ - ] NoRefunds 1 point 1 monthMar 26, 2025 13:25:58 ago (+1/-0)

god you are a fucking moron.

First off, and MOST IMPORTANT: CO2 IS NOT A POISON, DUMBFUCK

Secondly, EVs use MORE energy and POLLUTE MORE. From their brakes, to their tires, to the shitty batteries that literally get buried once they're done, to the coal they use to power their motion, to how electricity is a far far less efficient method of storing energy and moving objects, EVs are FAR worse for the environment.

[ - ] Sal_180 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 16:21:45 ago (+0/-0)

Who said CO2 is a poison? To say EV's pollute more because of their brakes and tyres is one of the dumbest things I've read in my life.

[ - ] NoRefunds 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 18:43:42 ago (+0/-0)

Who said CO2 is a poison?

Then why do you give a shit if something makes more of it?

To say EV's pollute more because of their brakes and tyres is one of the dumbest things I've read in my life.

So you don't actually care about waste, I don't even know what the fuck you're even arguing about. Just go fuck off

[ - ] Sal_180 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:13:40 ago (+0/-0)

Then why do you give a shit if something makes more of it?

I don't.

[ - ] NoRefunds 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:17:14 ago (+0/-0)

So you're just a retarded troll, got it

[ - ] Sal_180 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:27:06 ago (+0/-0)

You need to go back to school and learn English comprehension.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:13:48 ago (+0/-0)

Do you believe in AGW due to greenhouse gasses like CO2? Do you believe in limiting CO2 production by combustion engines?

[ - ] Sal_180 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:30:33 ago (+0/-0)

Personally, I'd limit engine size for myself for a number of reasons. But if someone wants to go out and buy a 5l f150 to drive to the store, I don't give a fuck. Let them

[ - ] Whatthefuck 1 point 1 monthMar 26, 2025 09:37:54 ago (+1/-0)

Well their major byproduct is at least plant food, otherwise known as CO2. How many greenhouses pump lithium from old batteries into them?

Or are you just doing your usual shtick of being a retard?

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 1 monthMar 26, 2025 11:15:45 ago (+1/-0)

True. But electric cars are at least somewhat more resource intensive to build. Im fine with that if the long term impact is lower but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I have no problem with electric cars. Their design will probably improve alot in the next decade or so. Its another consumer option, who doesn’t like options?

It was never the holy grail of clean energy that lefties tried to claim it was. And I find it suspicious that liberals have abandon the electric car cause en masse because “Elon muh nazi”. If electric cars really are good for the planet, liberals should support buying teslas regardless of how shitty they think the CEO is. It makes the green movement look petty and insincere about their CORE GOALS.

[ - ] Sal_180 -1 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 14:43:37 ago (+0/-1)

Abandoning Tesla is not abandoning EVs. There's other options.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 18:00:36 ago (+0/-0)

Tesla is 50% of the manufacturing capacity in this market. And its at least half of the EVs on the road. But you want to trash all that. Does that seem sustainable? Or wasteful? Its all about priorities and leftists have shown they care more about witch hunts than sustainability.

[ - ] Sal_180 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 18:43:40 ago (+0/-0)

People can choose what they want.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:10:29 ago (+0/-0)

Thats what a lot of conservatives think: let me buy as big and gas guzzling a truck as possible, it’s my choice!

[ - ] Sal_180 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 19:16:42 ago (+0/-0)

Most people think you can buy what you want. Not just conservatives.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1 monthMar 26, 2025 20:04:29 ago (+0/-0)

Like heroin? Or kiddie porn?

[ - ] Sal_180 0 points 1 monthMar 27, 2025 00:27:06 ago (+0/-0)

Yoi have problems
