Some good points. As admin of the site I like the idea of not allowing scores < 0, but as a normal user I dislike the idea. Youtube is worse since they removed downvotes. I think a good compromise is having a negative score not negatively impact your experience, as long as no rules are broken of course.

Well, YouTube is a different media than forums. Originally, downvotes didn't affect visibility, only allowed to show negative feedback faster than comments. I don't know how Jews tweaked downvoting after buying YouTube, but originally downvoting on YouTube was harmless and useless for downvoting trolls.
