Guy down the street has a kit car version, built on top of a VW bug frame I think. Looks real sweet, but probably not as fast.

SO the original Beetles were sold in the States from 1950 and 1979, Then they resurfaced again from 1998 to 2019... (Had to look that up.)

So I would define the modern ones from 1998 to 2019...
